The Vortech supercharging system for the 4.8/ 5.3/6.0 GM light truck will impress you with the obvious attention to detail and fully integrated appearance. Increase your horsepower to 391 and torque to 420 ft/lbs (5.3 Engines) to help you pull you, your passengers and your toys over the hill or around the corner.

no, the newer engines have a different intake cover. And they make like 315hp N/A (without supercharger). so if you added a supercharger to the nbs engines, it should make at least 400+hp.

I doubt the 4L60E would hold up to that much HP One would have to have a serious overhaul on the tranny to get tha to last. I have an 06 Classic and the HP rating stock is 315…

I heard you should never supercharge anything with more then 100k on the motor? Your thoughts?

I dont know where you guys are getting your information, but here is the specs of the 5.3V8 on the 07/08 models..

    “Engine, , Vortec 5.3L V8 SFI, with Active Fuel Management (315 hp [234.9 kW] @ 5200 rpm, 338 lb-ft of torque [456.3 N-m] @ 4400 rpm), iron block (LY5)”

This shows 215hp with 338 lbs of torque. This means with the supercharger you should be able to reach at least 400hp.

I have a Vortech Supercharger on a ‘97 Mustang Cobra (305 HP Stock), and the blower took it to 437 HP. No problems, and the power is great. Go directly to Vortech’s website for info. You can Google it if you can’t find it. The kit for the Cobra was around $3,800.00.

As for supercharging a tired old motor, use common sense and realize that it will definately stress internal engine components, so I would not do a tired old motor. Also, stufflike overdrive pulleys etc., will have to go. The little whitling noise that a blown car makes is cool, since motorheads will recognize it, and know your car/truck is something special.

out here in AZ I have a couple of buddys that have their trucks outfitted with vortech superchargers. John Melvin, owner of JM custom concepts from laveen AZ has a 03 black silverado SS that so far is the fastest SS in the country, running 11.22@120mph! makes about 633rwhp. His truck is in the vortech catalog. His partners in crime, Scott and Kevin Bartling of Bartling Motorsports out of Queen Creek run a pick up using E85 and runs 12.50’s at 115! “Ethyl” as its called makes about 500rwhp and is in the votech catalog as well. Quite impressive stuff!!! Got me thinking if I keep my 06 siverado I might look into a supercharger.

I have a 98 with the 5.7. I have a supper 44 flowmaster exhaust and a cold air K&N intake. The engine only has about 40K on it. Do they make a super charger for the 5.7? What modifications would i have to make if they make one?
