When you say "flip kit", do you mean all you did was flip the springs to the underside of the axle? no hangers or shackles? Do you have to notch the frame for the flip?
yes Im a newbie to the lowered crowd :aniteef:

Yes you have to notch the frame with a flip kit....unless you like bottoming out.:D

on mine i did not use a c -notch. mine dose not bottom out . whenu look at the frame rail in the back it has a focy notch.
yes. i all u do is put the rear end on the top of your rear springs .
on the 81-87 don't need a c-notch with a flip kit .
I thought you had to notch it
Found this:

you dont need to do a notch with just a flip. if you were to add hangers or something else a notch would be necessary. I also have a flip with no notch.

not on r year . if u go more then the flip kit yes . i have 5 " before i hit my axle or rearend
Gotcha
This is why its confusing, www.macsprings.com has the 3/5 and the flip kit comes with a c-notch, if its not needed why are they trying to sell me them in a kit?

i had DJM frist on my truck . then i put on the gf and had no problems . in my op they r the same . there was no change in the handling or ride . i even drove them both with out shock to see if there any thing that stand out . it still rode like i had shock on it . hope this helps . the only thing that was defferant was the price . lol
if this help . ijust bought the spring and block from gf for my s-10 blazer . i like how they did on my truck .

sounds like good advice, I think I will spend the xtra $$ and get the complete deluxe kit.
Is the flip an okay way to lower, are the hangers/shackles or any other method more preferred?
same question about the front, I see complete 4/6 or 3/5 kits but none are just coils and flips...whats the deal?

Kendall did a 5/7 on his and didn’t need a shim. :read:
Why would I have to mod the spring plate? Mine worked just fine...

Hmm..There was a "pin" in my spring pack, but the Flip Bracket has a hole in it, that the "pin" goes in to, so it gets the pinion angle correct. If that's not what you're meaning, I can't figure out what you are...

What other "pin" are we talking about...
Hes talking about a hole in the bottom plate which used to be the top plate. Since the pin end and nut are now on the bottom and off center, they suggest making a new hole so it doesnt interfere. I bet thats why your u-bolts arent staight/vertical. :dunno:

Lower rear axle so the ne axle support fits up inside the existing rear axle pad welded to the axle. Mark and drill a hole in the factory spring plate for the spring center pin. This hole is offset just like the flip bracket.
You’re supposed to drill an offset hole on the stock spring plate to align the rearend. There is a pin on the bottom of the leaf and the bolt is on the top. :read:
Hmm..mine's been holding up perectly fine for a year like it is...so...:D

djm is the best..don;t go cheap you will regret it later
Okay guys Im gonna order this stuff on monday but I have one last question.
The rear kit comes with some kinda shock extender, does this mean I can run my cuurent rear shocks (they are 2 months old)?
I need to know because this could save me about $80 if these brackets allow me to use stock shocks.

Hell yeah it will be lowered, Im doing all this work by myself but Im determined to get it done this weekend :D
Im just gonna run the extenders in the back for now, the rear shocks only have about 1000 miles on them, when they wear out I will buy the DT's for the rear.

Did you have to buy new spindles, because these springs are to short and are loose in the mounts, they have ALOT of play in them. I can actually move it around easily.
