What is everyone running on rims and tires for an OBS on bags with 20s:think:

Thanks,
Tim

Recommended is a 20x8 with 5" of backspacing
20x8.5 with 5.5" of backspacing.
20x9.5 with 6.75" of backspacing (rear only)

Now..I'm hoping I can get away with my 20x8.5 with 5.238" of backspacing due to the fact that I won't be running bell tech spindles and I plan on cutting the fender lip off.

if you dont mind trimming the lips, 5" on 8's and 5.5" for 9.5's...

I'm running 20x8.5" and 255/35ZR20 with 5.5" backspacing on the wheels. Check the gallery for pics:D

Cool thanks guys. I do not want to trim or flatten the fender lip. I like how much I have bent them now.

What tires should be run on the 9.5? I am not sure if I will go with wider in the rear. I do like it on my truck now however it depends on the cost and size of the tires. Will I have to modify the inner fenders for the 9.5 in the rear on a bagged 4 link?

You shouldn't have to. You should be able to stuff that 9.5 up there no problems. I know jody over at st.com had his 20s stuffed up under his stepside...and now he's got 22s stuffed up under there...

i ran 20x9 wrapped in 255/35/20 tires on the truck. i thin backspacing was like a +18mm or something what they told me

You can run a 255/35ZR20 like my goodyears if im not mistaken, but if you go up to 10" i believe you need to switch to something like a 295/40ZR20

i'd run bigger than a 255 on a 9.5 inch wide wheel. I'd go at least a 265...but i'd rather see a 285 on that wide a wheel.

a good rule of thumb is to pick a tire that will equal out to about 1" wider overall than the width of the rim. that would be the 285 then.

Yeah, I have 255 on the 8" and 275 on the 9.5" now. I just was not sure of the tire sizes available for the 20's. I do not want to go to $300 a tire like the Vette.

Thanks for the help.

Vette tires are more expensive...well...because they are vette tires. Just like 20s were originally expensive until ford put them on one of their trucks...and now dodge and chevy...and now you can find 20 inch tires for 150 bucks each.

chevy needs to start puttin some 35 and 40 series tires on the trucks so the price of them will go down:head:

Codeman what is the load rating on the tires that you have. I am leaning towards Nitto 555 but they only have a rating of 1600 per tire.

i'm curious about all this too. picked out some 20x8.5's, dont know what backspacing is available yet probably 5" or 5-1/2".. but i have belltech spindals,, guessing 5.5 would be best..

the 1/2" problem.. what will tuck on my obs, am i stuck with 255/35's?(26.9") would like a little more sidewall (streets suck) but worry that a 245/40 will be too tall (27.5")

on a 8.5" wide wheel, 5.25" is the minimum backspacing to run on a 265 tire. The wheels will tuck better with the narrower 245/40, but the height isn't significantly different from a 255/35. How much drop do you have? You can pull off prolly a 4.5" drop up front with the fenderwells on a 245/40/20.

rolling a 4" front drop now, but its with belltech spindals (pushes wheel out 1/2") ... is that gonna be a problem once i go to bag it?, seems like the 245/40 might be best then for me..

I would do a 245/40/20 tire with a 8.5" wheel with 5.5" of bs. The negative camber due to the bags should tilt the wheels in enough to tuck.

man i love that truck!! so what your saying is that with my belltechs and a 20x8.5 with 5 1/8" BS with 255/35s i should be rollin if i rolllll the fender lips... that can be done!!

did you cut/bend the flat lip up or did you cut the inner skin of the fender and flatten the whole works? any pics or detail?

I dont think that 8.5" wide with 5.125" of bs on belltech spindles will tuck. My spindles dont push the wheels out any, and I've got 8.5" wide with 5.25" of bs, and they rubbed on the fender lips horribly. I'm missing a large part of my tires because the fenders chewed them up. If you wanna try it though, go for it. Good luck.

did you have them rolled? do you have djm spindals now? any other statistics? believe me i want to make sure first..

anyone else running 20x8.5's that tuck? whats your backspacing? fender mods????
thanks Steve J.

I've got my fender lip pretty much cut off. It just barely has the 90* angle to keep its strength. Depending on what height your truck's aligned at, they will prolly tuck. I am also running a 265 tire, making it have less gap. If Slammedon20s is positive what he said is true, then it will work.

yeah i figured i would have to either cut or really roll the lips... maybe someone else will chime in too. thanks bud, Steve J

I'm trying to go with a 20/22 combo and can't seem to find much narrower than a 22x 9.5 for the rear, how much backspace would I need, and beyond static do you think they will tuck 20 x 8.5 in the front with 5.25 backspace and trimming the fenders, yadda yadda? Finding this combo in chrome sucks, 2toneprimer, what backspace did you have to tuck 20x9's?

i'm running 8.5" w/ 5.25" b/s & 245/40 tires. ground force 2" drop spindles & they tuck fine without cutting the lip. it's close, but they tuck without rubbing. i do have to cut the inside of the fender because when i lay out the tire rest on the inner fender.
