hmm...you could try to bleach the dye out and then redye with grey.
I think if you try to dye your belts grey without removing the previous die will result in a darker maroon color.

If you can get the beefy torque bolt out and take the seat belt out of the assembly you can soak them in bleach, but if ya can't do that then you could prob put some in a spray bottle or something of the like and put it on the belt and let it soak.
But, I wouldn't quote me too much on this. I'd let some other people chime in before you go to bleachin'.

id think bleach could damage the material couldnt it? making it weaker possibly? Im in the same boat trying to find some mint grey seatbelts. I had some but they were too dirty to go back in my truck.....I swear the previous owners used them as grease rags:cussing:

jimmy do you still have them adn want to let them go extremly cheap and maybe i can clean them, i dont know for sure if bleach can make them weak or not i figure it could, but i know i dont want to spend 400 bucks or so to get new seatbelts

Do NOT bleach seatbelts.....
Ever bleach a shirt? Or a cotton sweater? Feel the difference next time you do, it breaks down the fibres making the material weaker.

i have to agree with lowryder, bleach would weaken the fibers, how much? well, it would be hard to say, bleach them and get into a head on at 50 or so, if they hold, then they are ok, if not well you'd know that too

well let me ask this, could i dye them white then light grey?

well, i believe the only way to dye them white would be to bleach them and we have already decided that was bad. as with most anything, going from light to dark is easy , but going the other way would be really tough. an upholstery shop in AZ i know of sells the seat belt webbing in all colors but you may have trouble finding a shop that would be willing to sew seat belts, there is a lot of liability there.
a quick search on google brought up this

also, you may want to email these guys and see if they can redo you belts using you existing hardware with a different color webbing

hope this helps

they make white seat belt dye, that wouldnt work to get it a light color?
what about just dying them black until i get grey ones
Most (if not all) boneyards WILL NOT sell seat belts...Just a FYI.

I kinda like the idea of dying them black....That would go with your gray interior....:head:

Black and gray go together.....That's just MY opinion though....My son is doing his truck in black and gray and it doesn't look bad at all....:head:
