Ok when i accelerate from a complete stop, the truck stumbles a few times then accelerates fine. it also stumbles a bit when coasting a applying slight throttle. there is no SES light on, with 174,000 miles on the clock the transmission is very worn and is slipping, the fluid has metallic flakes in it as well. could this stumble be cuased by the tranny or TCC or is there an issue with the engine.

Ive never replaced the O2 sensor, how often must this be replaced and could a bad O2 sensor cuase the problem. can the tbi be the cuase, leaky injectors, bad TPS or IAC valve

Or can it be an ignition system problem, the wires, cap, rotor are about 7 months old. the plugs about 2 months

hopefully im putting this in the right forum, and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would check out your ignition system wires, plugs, rotor, cap and those metal chavings aren't good at all.

I think i found the problem. when i took the cap off the distributor i found the shaft had way too much play side to side and up and down. The distributor shaft should be pretty solid right? And this means a new distributor right?
How often should the fuel filter be replaced, i installed a new one when i did the fuel pump last year.
Thanks for the help guys.

I was going to recommend checking the distributor, glad you noticed that first. under hard acceleration that shaft is held firm by the inertia, but at light throttle it is allowed to move around a little. good thing distributors are relatively cheap, hehe...

and yes, please rebuild your tranny :D
