i have 2 rockford fosgate p2 12s under my ex cab rear seat. i blew one of them recently and got a new one but now they sound funny. the low low bass hits fine but there is NO mid bass at all and it kinda has a "punk" (not punk music) sound like the sub is moving but there is no music coming out. my amp is a rockford p5002

did you try switching the pos and neg connections on the speaker? make sure all connections are good? being that it still has low bass, doesn't seem like it's out of phase, but it is possible. recheck the settings on the amp and deck if there is a xover on it. run an ohm check and make sure both subs are good, if you do it from the leads at the amp, you can also eliminate the possibility that a wire came loose inside the box at the same time. disconnect the sub wires from the amp, take a small 9V battery (the kind kids like to stick their tongue to), (don't try it with your car battery on the speaker!), put the + wire to the + on the batt, and neg to neg. do it to each lead to the sub, or if it is one lead and split inside the box, that's ok tool. make sure each sub moves out when you connect to the 9v battery. that is a wiring phase check. i had 2 subs, and one amp on each. i could tell when one amp shut off, i would still have low bass, but the upper bass sounded like crap. so that is why i question if a wire fell off, or maybe a channel burned on the amp as well?
