View Full Version : Muffler location

I think i screwed up and only left 13" under my cab between crossmembers for the 14" long magnaflow muffer i had planned. Depending on how much clearance i get with the hump at the back of the cab i might not be able to put them right there. Would it be ok to run dual mufflers behind the axle? Seems that most sports cars have theirs right at the back.
Also how critical is the location of an h pipe?

I dont see how the location of the muffler would be a problem like that, as long as the diamater of the pipe is correct for backpressure. :dunno:

I guess if it fits, it'd work :dunno:
But the closer the crossover is to the manifolds, the better

I prob cant fit them between the driveshaft loop and the next x-member up unless it sits on top of the x-member. Im not sure if there is room under the floor or not.
I was planning on putting the h pipe right in the middle of that center square behind the tranny...that too far back?

I would say that it will work that far back, but the results will be less than optimum. As stated above, the closer you can get to the manifold/header, the better.

Put them in the bed. And keep them polished.
But seriously, It should work just fine, might have a slightly different tone, but do you really plan on driving this truck all the time?

So a std cab short bed 350 truck will be louder/sound different then a CC longbed 350 truck?

Slightly your @ss! He's not adding 35' of tube to the system. :slap: If he mounted them at the back or under the truck they would sound the same UNLESS it was dumped. :stir:
