I would really like to put a console and a auto shift on the console in my 00 GMC ex-cab. Anyone have any ideas? Can you just remove the shifter handle from the column and put the manual shift cover over it? Pictures would be great. Or possibly some donor vehicles that might work. My brother just bought a 05 F150 with black leather and the console shift and it got me thinking.

Here is a link to a floor shifter conversion with detailed installation:Here (http://www.blown4x4.com/B_M_Shifter/b_m_shifter.html)
And here is my console built by Sky at Wicked Speed Motorsports:

I hope to have it installed soon, just have too much going on right now.

I believe a member here by the name of BoostedZ71 has a floor shifter as well.

Looks good, Is that a twist-grip shifter? Where did you get it? Are you running the factory linkage as in the link so the backup & neutral saftey still work? Can you just remove the factory shift lever and the truck will shift freeley? Can a manual trans column cover then be put in place of the auto to cover up where the lever was?

Thanks for any & all info.

I wish I had more info to give. I remember Boosted71 telling me that the brake to shift mechanism can be switched over. The manual cover can be used to delete the column shifter. I am using a stock H2 shifter but there are replacement (H2) twist grip shifters you can use.

Wow...that is a cool idea. I'd love to mount a (deblinged/painted black) H2 shifter in my NBS console in place of the ash tray / useless side of cupholder. Looks like it might almost be possible to order one of those tow/haul buttons and place it in the four-pod housing next to the air bag switch.

I still have the trim piece with the gear indicator if you want me to measure it for you.

Where did you get the H2 shifter and how much $ I looked on the B&M website (I think they made the twist grip) and they don/t list it anywhere as well as Jegs, Summit, Ect. Any ideas on where to score one? I like the H2 style shifter, Do you just push the button to release the detents?

Thx.

The actual shifter handle I ordered off of Ebay for about $10. The shifter mechanism itself I ordered from here: Hummer Parts Catalog (https://www.hummer-parts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html) It costs $79 and it bolts to the floor. It has the hookup for the brake to shift mechanism although I don't know how to activate it yet. As far as the shift indicator, I used a univeral unit from Dakota Digital because I was not pleased with the stock H2 trim.

Do you have the part number for the shifter mechanism on that site? Do you have any pictures of your with out the handls?

Thx.

Part #11 is $79 through their catalog (lists for $100). If it is a NBS then you you could probably buy the harness as well so the H2 gear shift indicator will work. I only have part #11 and #12, I used a universal gear shift indicator from Dakota Digital.

Unfortunately I haven't installed it yet. I still need to buy the vinyl flooring. Every time I save enough for it, a new deal comes along.

From what I can tell in the diagram, It looks like a round shaft that the handle goes on. The reason i'm asking is I just scored a H2 handle from ebay and from what I can tell it looks like I might be able to put it on a older shifter. (mid 90's camaro) I know that g.m is pretty universal with there stuff, I guss I'll wait till it comes and take a look.

Do these pics help?

Yea, That's exactly what I needed. I think that my plan will work with the older shifter. Looks the same on the top. Does the H2 handle mount with a set screw or a clip? Do you happen to have a caliper to measure the size of the slot in the top of the shaft? I am assuming that the slot keeps the handle from rotating?

Thanks again.

Is the H2 shifter a cable shifter? Or does it have a set of linkages? Cable would be very nice and simple to install.

my price is 38.07, but the place he got his shifter seems to be alot less. Not sure why or how but the shifter cost him less than what it costs us.
I am working on the SS shifter pic...

The SS doesn't have a floor shifter. Its the same as any other Silverado/Sierra. Do you still want the steering column pic?

Okay, now I have a console for $59. Hopefully I have less than $300 in a total console/shifter setup.

Yes please. I know that about the SS. I just want to install the H2 shifter in my non-clone 2003 Silverado SS.

Here is a link to a floor shifter conversion with detailed installation:Here (http://www.blown4x4.com/B_M_Shifter/b_m_shifter.html)

that link doesnt work anymore. i'm looking at doing something similar to this in my truck so such detatiled instructions would be very helpful to my planning process if someone can provide a working link. thanks.

darkknight, is that console a size that would fit in front fo a full bench seat? could you possibly post some dimensions? im planning to build something very similar to hold a cb radio and a hurst v-matic 2 and dimensions from yours would give me a good starting point

My console is designed to go between bucket seats. Dimensions? Can't really recall off the top of my head. It's about 3' long, 8-9" high where the shifter sticks out, 12" high on the storage end.
