GM Post Battery Tap

Which one do I need? The "standard" length or the "extended" length?

Do I have to cut the stock post tap and replace it with a ring terminal and then attach it to the aftermarket post tap? I can't imagine doing that.

The regular length one worked fine for me, just unscrew from the battery, then take a screwdriver and pry out the stock bolt from the plastic ring, and replace with the new one, no cutting required I used this ONE (http://www.cardomain.com/item/LITSMB1) .
