Will yellow tops work as starter batteries in extreme cold and stuff also? Other audio forum said yellow wont start the truck a lot of the times.

If your into SPL, the red tops are better, they have a faster discharge rate

I'm more less wanting the truck to always start and to be able to keep up with stereo and lighting needs without lights flashing a ton. I know i need to upgrade big three but the batteries might be free atleast i'm hoping so thats why i'm worrying abotu them first.

Some people will tell you that adding an aditional battery will just put more strain on the alt, but I have done this in the past, and it HAS helped

Yellow/yellow is what I always do, on my own cars and on my customers cars. If they are cheap, I will do a Red up front and a yellow out back and save them like 40 bucks.

since theyre the same battery, you can get away with just wiring them in straight parallel, pos to pos, neg to neg. if you wire them opposite and start your truck=death...lol
not to you, but to all the electrical stuff in your truck.
my engine compartment isnt as perdy as tribals, but heres what it looks like

It's recommended to have fuses within 18" of each battery ... but most people don't.

I cant see 750cca not being enough to sufficiently start a motor in the winter (Yellow Top).

Well, CA winters aren't as harsh as NY winters, but I've spent my share of time in sub 20 degree weather and snow in Nevada, and have had no starting problems with my yellow top.

Well how well do yellow tops compare to red tops in minus 40 and 50 below weather? When I bought my truck it had a red top in it, so i was just wondering.

I live in anchorage, alaska and I have a yellow top and it does just fine starting my truck. Our winters have been more mild recently, but it still got dow to about -20*

well im in fairbanks, we had some cold days this year, but i never had any problems starting mine either, and one night my interior lights got left on and it started right up. I guess the two batteries dont differ much then.

I was gonna go 2 yellow tops........but by looking at things it'd be cheaper and probably almost as effective to use dual red tops. I plan on using the second battery for the stereo only and the regular battery spot for the truck's everything. No caps or anything (that's why I want dual batteries). I know yellowtops do help in some situations but my system isn't going to be drawing a thousand amps or anything (JL 450/4 and a JL E1800D mono-block) so I'd be fine with one battery, but want 2 while I'm doing everything.
BTW.....dual red top's vs dual yellow tops save like $100 overall. One red/one yellow saves close to $50 so it's a savings atleast you'll see.

I ran dual yellow tops dual terminal with a dual batery Isolator and 200 amp stock case altenator on my old truck it ran fine no problems. Ive even ran my stereo at the lake on day till it died and was able to starrt with the main battery and leave it running for a while to charge up the other.
