Probably depends more on your budget than anything...heck, be yourself- get what YOU like!

K&N, Volant, AirRaid all have good reputations pretty much.

I was in the same boat with you, I went a totally different route. Check out the Outlaw CAI.
Everyone will claim one is better than the other and rarely someone says one brand sucks. Just look at them all objectively. Good luck. The three listed above are alright. Try to stay away from the old volant part#, make sure you get the new one. Some people are trying to dump the old ones off on people.
It loses power (proven several times in mags, other forums, etc.)
Good Luck!

I like the AEM unit, nice and pretty polished tubing. Then there is the ROCK-IT unit which has dual filters.

Turbo City, Rock-It unit:

Save your money for an exhaust. Or, just replace the tube with either an airaid straight tube, or cut the silencers out if the factory.

just .02 from a former airaid user.

Does the aftermarket air intake mess with the computer system. I herd that it will because the computer is set to a certain amount of air being induced into the engine

YOur computer will adjust...it has to. Depending on the temperature of the outside air, it will be more concentrated at lower temps, therefore your PCM must adjust to air flow/concentrations. It will be fine, you'll enjoy the performance and sound.

does a cold air intake make much of a difference? in other words, is it worth it?

Thing is , your asking for a CAI.
And well........................... there aint any cold air like that!
Its more of a HAI, because the car will be pulling air from the engine bay which is warmer than the stock setup.
The draw back to the stock setup is lack of air.
I have tried bolth and found the winter time I just flip the lid , summer time I remove the resonator and replace it with a staright pipe from Home depot for $3.
Just my .02.

No, just keep a clean filter in it.
