Looking at a replacement muffler..

I'd like to just replace the muffler on my 05 with the 5.3. So I pick up the right inlet/outlet sizes what do I need to buy? I want it to be exact fit. If I have 2.5" stock (just an example" do I need to get a 2.75" so they'll slide together or how does that work?

believe pipe is 2.75" or it was on my 02.
if so then go w/ a 3" on the muffler :D

i believe to match to the stock talpipe it's center in and offset out :think:

the muffler won't be as long as the stocker, but all they'll do is just cut a piece of pipe and weld it in there :D

and on the pipe for example you can do 2.75" to 2.75" they just need to extend the dia. a bit at the end of the pipe to get it to fit over. Very easy to do and the shop should already ahve everything to do such work. if not, then go somewhere else:read:

Cool thanks. I'll crawl under tonight and see if it's offset. I peeked once before and the muffler looked round and the inlet and outlet looked centered but I'll confirm before I order the muff

on my 02 my first muffler was a magnaflow, which i sold to 03redmonster and that's lal he did was take out the stocker and put the magnaflow on and then they just welded in an extension piece. Now like 2 years or more later, he's still running it :crazy:
