I was looking into some new component speakers for the front door panels. I was thinking of going with the Rockford Fosgate P162S components ( http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14401 ). Should I get an active crossover or use the passive ones it comes with, do i need to run new wires. I am new to setting up my car audio and am just learning about this stuff but want to do all my installs and setup the system myself so i can learn just need some help. Also an active xover for my subs?

Dont believe the hype about RF gear, basically there is better out there for the money. Since those are about $140 or so, invest a tad more and get some CDT Audio Ef-ci 6.5" comps. They will sound much better. The set comes complete with the necessary Xover unit, so no need to use an active setup (much harder to set up). Now your subs dont really use an xover like a front comp set would, but they do need some filtration of frequencies. This mainly comes from the amp, which will have some High Pass and Low Pass filters on them. I am glad to hear that you are doint all this yourself, and it can be done efficiently and successfully as long as you take your time and do reasearch, research, research!

Contact this guy for some great prices on all CDT Audio gear (and 10+ more brands). he is fully authorized dealer and will beat any and all prices.
