need to know before this weekend what to do?buy a complete vortec 350 from a 1997 for $600 or buy the complete 350 tbi from an '88 for $300 i wanna put this in my 1994 and i want it to be pretty stout! i wanna stay under $3000 for the whole setup so what engine should i get and what mods can i do to get the best performance without going over budget!! both engine have around 60-70k miles on em so the bottem end should be good!

also anyone had any experience w/ the edelbrock mpfi setup?or the holley commander someone said you can get a harness made for it to hook in to my tbi ecm?

I'd go with the vortec....not only will you notice that the $300 difference will offer a night and day difference in performance. But it'll offer a lot more options later down the road for real hot rodding. You'll never use a a set of TBI heads for racing, but you could use the Vortecs later for some good cheap power.....a lot to think about!!

I have a 97 vortec in my truck that with a mild rebuild made 361 hp and 400 ft/lbs tq (of course thats with a holley 750 carb and high rise intake manifold, I suspect I lost about 20 hp/20 ft/lbs with the stock injection setup) definitely go with the vortec, everything Ive ever read in hot rod and car craft says the vortec heads are the best stock heads you can get. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE COMPUTER FOR IT THOUGH!!! THEY ARE EXPENSIVE!!!

TBI, you will spend alot less getting it to run in your '94. You would still need a wire harness, computer etc from the '97. The money you spend on that stuff....you can mod the tbi with.:D
