Whats the loudest horn I could get for around 50 bucks or maybe a little more? I dont want to have to run an air tank. I just want something really loud to scare the crap out of peopl when needed. Doesnt have to be really low ptiched or high pitched, just loud as heck. I was looking at the hella triple horn kit which is right in my price range. Does this replace the stock system or what, I would kinda like a seperate dash-button for it.
Any other loud horns ($100 max) yall would recommend instead?

think of the sheer glee you'll have scaring the **** out of your boss/girlfriend's dad.

I was looking at those earlier and they are little out of my price range. I just cant justify spending $250 on a horn...

yeah, but the hilarity of those horns and the reactions they'd evoke would be priceless.

Do a search on ebay for air horn.
Less than $20 buys you a 135db tankless air horns ( plus shipping ). I've seen the same in autopart stores for $30-$40 a set. I'm told a regular OEM horn is only around 100db, 135db is quite a bit louder.
They have some super loud 155db setups on there...$250-$500.

This needs an air supply, but the ad is funny:

My fr iend took one out of a big truck. He has a air tank though under his tuoneo cover (sp) and his horn is LOUD. He honks at the other bigh trucks and they honk back but his is always louder.

My brother has a 24 inch mac truck air horn on 150 psi, its enough that if he hits it anywhere close to train tracks everyone around slams the brakes...priceless

Ok so say I have the horn, how would I go about wiring it up so its seperate from my factory horn?
I heard a train go by from a few hundred yards away the other day and that completely sold me on the idea. I found a set on ebay I like,

is that kit any good and would that be all I needed for it to work?
Also....could I add a bigger trumpet to it later for a deeper sound, or what?

You need to have an air tank on your truck with the lines running to the horn.

It's a different sound than the train sounding horn in the video, but, you could find a cheap air horn off of ebay made by whelen, code 3, or some of the other folks that make police equipment. You would just need that and a speaker which you can normally find pretty cheap.

110 DB's in a low frequency isn't very loud......if you want train horns don't puss out just get the horns from honblaster.com and get a compressor and tank kit from them. Thats the only way you will have a true train sound. Otherwise your SOL and will be dissapointed when a cheapo ebay horn doesn't fill your needs.

Dang that sucks....
So it looks like im either gonna have to go with a high-pitched horn thats cheap but loud
or
an expensive horn that is loud and low
does that sum it up pretty well?

Might as well spend some money and get somethin real loud that you'll be happy with.

True, but this is something that is cute and funny for a little bit, and im just hesitant about spending a nice junk of change on something ill use once a blue moon while I have alot of other things in mind to do. Know what im saying?

no because when you in traffic and people cut you off its fun to make them freak when you nail the horn...maybe I'm an 'hole though...plus I like to scare people on the side of the road....honk for the homeless..

Ok, how about this kit then:

It has the sound I want (a loud train...), but i dont really like ebay, so if anyone knew who makes this kit, could they pass it along?

I have also been wanting to get a loud, LOUD horn. After looking at all these kits everyone is selling, my conclusion is that I am going to just put one together separately. It has to be cheaper this way.

If you look at those "kits", you can see what you need. My father-in-law drives a semi for a living and he is trying to find me a couple horns that are laying around. He told me companies get rid of them when they are cosmetically damaged. Well, I could care less if they are a little bent since they are going under the hood. If you don't know someone like that. Try a junkyard or something along those lines. Then find your parts and pieces off ebay of whatever. Not to hard to find a tank, go to a hardware store or TSC to get the compressor and fittings. Now, other than that, you might have a few odds and ends but I certainly don't think it is going to cost $250+.

Hey feelas. I got my ron friday afternoon and didnt have time to fully hook it up today but havw a few questions.
1. All I could dins at rgw shack was a 2amp pushbutton switch, will this suffice instead of thge recommended 5?
2. Whats an accessory power line I could tape into to?
3. Thw horns are bigger than I thought so they arent going to fit in where I had planned so now I am going to put them where the spire tire was. But I need a bit to go through that steel plate, any suggestions?
