Just wondering what an average run for a 90 C1500 w/ 350, 5-speed, open diff. would be.

Right now I am running 17.146~ @79.XX with my 295/50's on thee back. Before i put them on I was running 17.117 @83.XX with the stock 235/75. With the new setup I am running about .3 faste all the way up to the 1/8th but then lose it all by the 1/4.

You are .03 seconds slower...that's 3 one-hundredths of a second...you can't blink that fast. What's happening is the 295's have so much more traction than the 235's cause they have more rubber on the ground. Your having a much better 60' and normally the better 60' you have the slower the mph. Did you spin the tires out the hole with the 235's cause that is usually what makes your mph faster but E.T. slower?

I ran 3 times with the 235's and every run was at 83. Out of the 3 runs I had one GOOD launch with the tires getting full traction without spinning. My new tires are lower tires but they are a lot wider, so I was able to launch higher and hook up better, but the 295's are harder to turn at higher speeds that the 235's due to tire height so I was unable to reach the 83 mph that I had before.

Is a 17.1XX decent for my truck being stock under the hood?

Depending on what rearend you have that would be pretty close. My 93 hadd the 4.3/5-spd 3.08s on an ext cab and with chip/intake and dual exhaust run 17.01.

I have a feeling my 89 runs closer to 18 right now. But damn that 22 mpg at 75-80mph is sure handy right now.

Smaller(dia) tire in the back - more acceleration, less top speed
larger(dia) tire in the back - slower acceleration, higher top speed (eventually)

ATV experience tells me:
18" rear tires for MX where acce. is key
21" rear tires for dunes where top speed is key.

low 17's are about normal for a stock fullsize.
