I was looking at Hifonics amps, Hifonics Brutus BX1605D (1x1100watts @ 2ohms) or Hifonics Brutus BX2005D (1x1300watts @ 2ohms). Anyone know if they make a good, legit product?

Hifonics is a great budget minded amplifier. They are solid and come pretty close to the rated power. Some may not like them, however I do. Clean, solid amps.

I've installed a bunch of the older Zeus and Brutus mono amps, and haven't had any problems with them.

I am running a little 100x2rms at 4ohm for my front CDTs and I like it a lot.

I ran a Hifonics amp in my Caprice. It was a Gen XI Hercules. It was a really solid amp and fed my XXX 12 nicely. Til it was stolen.:damnit:
I have read on some forums that the newer ones (after Maxxsonics acquired them) are shy of their power ratings by a couple hundred watts. I have no numbers to back that up, but I still think they are a great amp for the money.

i know the brutus series is overrated, but even still--i love their amps. Great stuff for the price.

Ive always liked Hifonics, but now my BX1800D I had is fried and still waiting on the guy to call to tell me whats wrong with it.
Other than that no complaints.

That reminds me. A buddy of mine purchased a BX1800d to power the H2 15 I sold him. That amp smoked in a few weeks.
He remote started his car, the system bumped for a few minutes at a decent volume and POOF! its gone. I had the gains set properly for him, so I can only guess that the amp went to ish or he went behind me and cranked everything.
