I was thinking of doing a SQ install in my truck and I decided on the 8W7. Ive got a guy who is going to sell me his for a good price and I was going to put 200W to it and make the box bigger so that it won't take as much power to get it moving, thats if I do a ported box but I may go sealed this time for a change.
Just wondering if anyone else has done a 8W7 install in a single cab truck and how did it sound?

Thats a deep lil 8 incher. Even mounted so it fires into the side panels it would still need a minimum of 8 inches internal depth (9.5 external) due to the diameter of the sub. I havent seen an 8w7 in a regular cab, but you could possibly do it side firing, just a good few clicks will be given up.

Thats what I was thinking of doing, that way the sub wont hit the back of the seat and can reach full excursion and also b/c I hate doing wedge boxes. I just dont like them. lol

1- with 200 watts, get a different sub that's more efficient
2- pure sq, get a different sub. the W7 is an good sounding loud sub. "sql".
you can put it "IB" and get it to move the most. doesn't mean it is going to be any louder. movement is not the only determination of loudness.
the crystal comp 8 isn't too far off in spl, takes it in sq, and at full retail is $140. if better sq is what you're after without spending a lot of $. even the dd 1008. that's got the best sq out of all the 3. and it will do decent on 200 watts.
if the W7 is a good deal, snatch it up. down the road, hit it with some real power though.

Thanks for the heads up but the guy is selling the 8W7 for just a little more than $140 and I figure for a sub like that then its a pretty good deal.
I will give it more power later on, but for now Im just going to play with it and send it 200W. If it needs more then Ill put a bigger amp on it.

Id snatch it up for that price and re sell it.
