Is 1/2" enough space between the magnet of a subwoofer and the back of the box? Will this cause problems?
Thanks

If your box is sealed it should make absolutely no diff.. If yor box is vented AND you have a voice coil vent in your magnet you could be robbing it of some airflow..

It is a sealed box and the sub does have a voice coil vent on the magnet. I am worried that it will make the sub overheat or something.

I know from reading the owners manual on a JL Audio 12" w6v2 that they require a minimum of 3/4" of space behind the magnet. Thats why I coudnt use them. Here is a link to the adobe version of the owners manual.
