Water in footwell

2003 2500HD Extended cab...whenever it rains, water collects in the rear/driver side footwell. All foam seals appear to be intact...I've got an old BMW that does the same, and have learned that it's the sunroof drains...if they get clogged, water goes inside...Wondering if something like that (no sunroof obviously:cheer: ) may be happening?

On my '94 there was a loose screw under the cowl in front of the windshield and water leaked in there. I put caulk around the screw and tightened it and its been great ever since. I'd get a bucket of water and pour it around there and have someone watch for drips.

I had my 03 SS to the dealer for water in the drivers' footwell and it turned out to be a bad water shield behind the door panel. There is a place around here (Cincy) called water wizards who specialize in finding leaks. The dealer actually used the, to find my leak. Later

Thanks to both for the replies....Dave, I think that must be it...we had a tree fall on the cab thanks to a tornado about a year ago, and I bet when they rebuilt, the water shield's compromised. Time to take the door apart!

Ricky, did you figure this out? I have the exact same problem in my 99 NBS and I can't figure it out. My rear passenger side is soaked every time it rains - which is a LOT in Seattle. My interior stinks to high heaven and this is getting REALLY old.

Mine does too... looks like the water is getting in past the seal on the door frame... got a new one (was $50) and will change it soon... (was gonna do it today, but I'm doing a 16 hour shift)

Not yet...pulling everything apart tonight. Eric...thanks for pointing me to the other thread...unfortunately all of the water is in the driver/back only...front wells are bone dry.

Definitely keep us posted! I've got mine in the garage drying out right now. Mine starts in the rear passenger foot well and spreads all the way to the front well. But we get butt loads of rain here.

I recall a TSB for the rear window seal...

AS for those of us with it in the front, look at the weatherstrip along the door opening, and when there is water in the car, is it also in the middle of the seal?... If so, it is bypassing the seal and working it's way into the cab, usually at the front corner...

Mine was leeking around a screw in the underbody, screw was tite, but it was basically going though the threads, crazy how they start.

Rear window seal!! Pulled all the trim up and put a hose on the cab that shot a nice curtain of water...moved the curtain of water from the front of the cab around to the back and watched the jam from the inside. Didn't see water until the curtain from the hose was over the rear driver's side corner of the cab...water was coming in at the bottom corner where the rear defrost plug is and pooling in the rear foot well.

Problem found! (all looked great from the outside)...now just need to fix it!!

What do you mean you're out there with a steam cleaner? Trying to clean it up?

Mine seems to start to get soaked in the passenger footwell first. I'm actually thinking about trading mine in so I might just make it the dealers problem. If I don't trade in I'm going to buy one of those smoke/fog machines from Guitar Center or somewhere and fog the crap out of all of the seams from inside of the truck and have someone watch for smoke outside to see if I can indentify the leak. It's the best plan I can come up with besides ripping out my entire interior. I suspect mine is the same issue though - rear window seal.
