Hey guys,
ive already searched and know whats out there, just looking for some opinions/tips on what i should actually do. Im looking to get the edelbrock 3704 intake and 670 tbi (506-2),tbi spacer, pressure regulator, and tbichips.com to burn me a hotchip. To further more ill probably do a dual electric fan conversion and headers, ( i already have 3 inch true duals and a low temp t stat). What do you all think of this set up or what would you suggest might be a better way?, such as the 50 mm bored intakes on ebay and 50 mm BB tbi's? Thanks for any positive input.

true dual 3" exhaust istoo big for that engine. i would stay with a single 3" or dual 2.5". i've also heard bad thing about the holly TBI from a few people. bad enough to where they put their stock tbi back on. i would look into a ported TBI and better injectors.

I ported my TBI and it seems to work well, but i wish i had gone with a BB with AFPR

Not on the stock tune or short of your own, you don't.

Well,
9 out of 10 people told me a 3 inch true dual system was * too big * or * would sound like crap*, i did it anyways( with flowmaster series 40) and im SSSOOO really glad i did. Sounds awesum! iTS SO LOUD. DEEP , very unique sound for this motor( most people think my motor is all beefed up ). But to all his own i guess, the 2.5's are for other people. :-)

I guess you just dont know what your missing, but if it sounds good, and thats what makes you happy. I went to the school that performance and power first, before looks and sounds.:fjoe: :birthday: :windowlic :loser:

OK..........
Anyways. Now that we are 8.5 miles off the original subject in the thread. Can we get back to that??????? ..(I didnt open the thread looking for debate over whether 2.5 vs 3 inch exhaust sounds better / or performs better). On a 94 350 tbi 210 h.p, does it even matter ..? ??(NO) .
Thanks.

well I did the whole edelbrock 3704/cam thing, rebuilt stock heads (no $$$$ for the edelbrock ones), headers and the flowmaster exhaust (single to 40 series then dual pipes), hypertech chip, low temp t-stat, used the stock tbi, K+N FIPK, Crane roller tip rocker arms, and did all the work myself and with free help. I used a shop with all the tools and lifts and stuff charged me $20.
Overall it cost me around $1000 (water pump, timing chain, oil pump, and all the gaskets too). If I had known, I think I would have rather saved up and bought a crate 383 from GM or just a new 350. The power gain wasn't substantial enough for me. Coming from a truck with a stock motor pushing 210 hp when new, I'd have been better off buying a new one.

Your problem is that Hypercrap chip.

You will never make any meaniful HP gains from a tbi engine without getting more fuel/air into it. There are only three effective ways to do that. A blower/turbo, nitrous, or the heads. You can port the heads, or replace them. Have the heads done by someone that knows what they are doing or replace then with some good ones then HP increases become a lot cheaper and easier.

Ya ,
I do agree there and am well aware of the limits/ weakness of this engine, i just want my engine to be a little more torquey and at least make the most of what little power it has to offer for now,i can buy these mods at decent prices and its all i can afford to put into it right now, i am geared down with 4.88's and running only 37's, purposley to make up for the lack of torque. Id love to save up for a 383 tbi, and i know in no way would i be close to having the same power by doing these few mods to my current engine. Im hoping all said and done( the intake, the 670 tbi, headers, hotchip, and an electric fan conversion) to be in the 250-260 h.p range,( if more, than that would be a bonus) that seems do able to me...?

I had bad luck w/ a Big Block TBI. I had the conversion plug, chip burned for it..everything but it still didn't work right. Somehow the circuitry didn't match up and it idled around 1200 rpm...I couldn't slow it down w/o it stalling. Ended up using a Holley 2" base from Norm at Affordable Fuel Injection....$80 very well spent. I'd try a bored TBI over a BB anyday. Dude, for the money you are investing, why don't you put a cam in it?? You mentioned headers, intake, etc. but no cam. I have a Comp 12-402-4 in mine w/ Vortec heads and looking at around 280-300 hp. My problem is I have 3.42 gears w/ 33" tires. I'm torn between going w/ 4.11's or moving up to a Voodoo cam 60101...that cam seems like it'd be awesome and it' still $300 cheaper than a gear swap.

Ya,
that is one thing i missed, a cam, probably becuase of the cost.. Although i assume it will make a notible difference. I will probably go with a modded tbi, like the 670, and a ported intake like the edelbrock. They seem to be the parts that bolt right up, with no problems, unlike some of the feedback ive gotten about the BB.

You were given an honest answer to this question and chose to argue with it. You keep complaining about a lack of low-end torque. Well guess happens when you run too large of an exhaust? If you were to step down to a 2.25" dual setup, you'd notice a big difference. :whyme:

For what its worth your 670 cfm TBI has a 2 inch bore, the Edelbrock intake only has 1 11/16 bores. It is designed to be used with a stock 350 TBI, not a big block TBI, bored 350 TBI, or a holley TBI. I've heard mixed results on boring the edelbrock intake out to 2 inches. Some say it can be done, others say there is a water jacket or something like that in there that will get cut into if you bore the intake to 2 inches.
I have the holley projection intake that has 2 inch bores. Its not a direct bolt on, it requires rerouting of the brake booster line, heater core return line, a different egr valve and a few other small things. Fast305 will tell you that this intake doesn't make as much lowend power as the edelbrock intake will, and the power range is from around 2000-6000 rpms which it may be. But on my truck the manifold compliment all my other mods very well. Lowend seemed to be as good if not better, mid range and topend are very strong. I highly recommend the holley intake if you are seriously looking into getting one.

91 bow tie- im not trying to argue. I made the thread to get all opinions. And im seeing them all. Thanks for ALL input.Im just speaking from my experience with my truck. As for exhaust, i just had the set up put on less then a year ago, 3 inch true duall all the way back 45'd out, with series 40 flowmasters, and i absolutely love it. The truck runs better/stronger than it ever has(no other mods either though). ( i had a catback dual 2.5 series 40) before hand.So in my mind i would never swap down. After seeing the improvement from this one mod, i just want to do more.( in a perfect world id have the money to do a sweet crate 383 ).
oldred.- set up looks decent. not abad price either, right now im trying to get with extremefi and get a 50 mm ported intake and matching 670+ cfm tbi. we'll see.

Are you going for direct bolt on simplicity? I would still get the holley over a stock bored and ported intake like his.

I think the Edelbrock manifold instructions said *Not* to use an aftermarket throttle body...but I lost mine a long time ago and didn't have the money for one anyways...
