I heard that glasspacks aren't really that good for performance. Is this true? I want something that sounds deep and loud but also not take away from performance. Also does the length make a differnce in sound? Shorter louder?

Glasspacks are GREAT for performance. Any type of muffler with a straight through design will give the best performance. The idea is to keep the exhaust pulse together so it can create a vacuum to help suck out the exhaust gas. Then again they are louder then chambered mufflers. Short packs are gonna be loud and crackly. Long packs help tone it down so there not loud but have a deep tone. Overtime they break in and get louder.

Glasspacks don't break in, they burn out. They are packed with fiberglass, and after a (short) period of time, it will all blow/burn out and become nothing more than a resonator.
Don't like straight-thru mufflers as you will lose alot of backpressure, which will cause your torque numbers to suffer.

I agree, ONLY if your running no cat(s), large pipes with straight headers or turndown. As long as you run a tailpipe and have cats you should be more then fine.
