Possible lifter tick...or exhaust manifold leaking.
clunk sometimes when putting in gear (needs u-joint prolly)
slight leak in rear-end (may be due to above problem)

Other than wanting more power nothing much. Just put a brand new set of Hankooks on her today.

Bought it two months ago...

since then I've either replaced or had replaced:

PCM
negative battery cable
battery
rust on cab corners repaired
intake gaskets replaced
new condenser
new compressor
new a/c line with orifice tube
new radiator and hoses
2 new tires
new spark plugs

what still needs done:
l/r axle seal blown
needs rear shoes
l/r extended cab window needs new seal and closing mechanism
ABS sensor bad...so needs either new sensor or entire hub

I swear I'm gonna have a new truck when it's all said and done

Oh...it's a 96 Z71 with 166k

Currently? HA!

Cracked frame where bed meets cab (Have no idea how this happened, chevy frames suck)
Tranny grinding noise when stopping abruptly (HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS COULD BE)
Need complete new steering components (steering box, idler arm, pitman arm, all arms worn out)
Left CV boot blown out
Shocks/steering stabilizers blown out
Need new tie rods.
Need new endlinks for front swaybar (endlink on left side broke off)
Serpentine belt noisy
Slow Coolant leak
*Just replaced rear end with auburn posi.

Essentially I need to cut out all that IFS crap and SFA my rig.

Chevy + IFS + Big lift = Big trouble. You all have been warned.

From the time I bought it 2.5 years ago, from then till now
Radiator
Shocks
Wheel Bearing
Brake Caliper
Heater Core hose fitting
Rear end is going out right now,
other than that, for 231,000 it runs and drives great.

Paint flakes off every time it rains.
Dies after it starts to warm up. Just changed the intake gaskets.

98 GMC Sierra K1500.

Driver+pass windows have deep scratches.
Dent in drivers side cab.
Needs new exhaust.
Slight coolant drip from block heater.
Bed rails are slightly bent.
Still has all the trim and badges on the truck.
Needs a system.

2003 Chevy 1500 Z71

Electrical in tranny went out.

Fuel pump makes a loud "whine"

Burn markes in almost every seat from prevouse owner.

Power windows I think may be going out becuase both driver and passenger are really slow going up.

At one point I think somone replaced my driver side quarter door, becuase paint is not the same in the sun, looks like they pulled it off a wrecked one and stuck it on there. It is not A huge differnce in color but you can tell if your looking in the right light.

Center counsel "sqeeks", and sometimes the lid or whatever gets stuck closed.

Paint on dash is coming up, but just on one side in one place, kinda odd.

and one really annoying thing is that you can not turn the key back for acc. you must barley turn it forward, but not to far or the driving lights will turn on.

"Dims" are way to damn bright, I love them but people coming at me hate them, brights are even brighter.

I guees thats all, May seem like a lot but I love my truck and wouldnt change it for anything else.

1991 GMC
1. A/C doesn't work. It's leaking somewhere. Hopefully it's not the compressor.
1. Steering needs to be rebuilt. It's got play. I just need to replace it all.
3. Need to replace the driver door pins.

That's really the major things on the list. If you wanted to get real deep, I can find a flaw in the paint on every panel on the truck that most people wouldn't see. I wouldn't mind a repaint.

1994 GMC
1. Steering. It ALL needs to be replaced.
2. Rear brakes. The drums are warped. I need to get 'em done.
3. Front brakes. The right side grabs a bit and I can feel a little bit of warpage.
4. I only have 1 working speaker. I need to at least replace the 2 dash speakers.
5. There are a few minor dents, dings and scratches all over the truck. A new paintjob wouldn't hurt.

Where to start, where to start...?
Need bushings and hinges for doors,
Need door panel for driver door,
Odd puttin' b/s.
Need Floater thing in Gas tank fixed (Gas gauge is off 1/4 tank)
Need to have my front end re-aligned.
Need new front bumper panel
Need new grill
Need new cornering light for my drivers side.
Need new rear bumper (Probably gonna roll pan it though)
Need new uhh...wtf are they called..? The thing the make your hood go up and stay up lol

Body work:
Hail dents EVERYWHERE
Driver Passenger door backed into.
completely new paint job
Need new front windshield...

As far as I can think of that's about it...lol

**** I don't know. Too much. Other than regular maintenance like plug, wires, fluid changes etc i have replace or need to replace
-Alternator
-EBCM
-Tensioner pulley
-Needed knock sensors but code shut off so i left it
-Driver side seat heater (element i think)
-Inner and outer tie rods
-Possible head gasket now
-Clicking under the hood (sounds like exhaust leak)
-Rattle under the hood when accelerating (no idea what it is)
-Passenger mirror moves by itself sometimes
-Curb view assist on mirrors just randomly stopped working last week
-Rear brakes don't work right (can't figure out how to fix them...everything I check is working properly)
-Thermostat
-Replace front brakes
-New battery
-Wiper blades have a mind of their own sometimes and wont shut off

Probably more that I can't remember too...and I have only had it for a little over a year. I don't like fixing it and I would probably be swearing left right and center if I didn't get most of the parts cheap and do most of the work myself. But I love my truck and thats what makes it all worth it!

1994 Blazer 4X4 Silverado
209,xxx miles

It has been sitting most of the spring/summer/fall as the engine has been drinking coolant (coolant level drops, no puddles anywhere). It recently had brakes put on it, and I finished fixing the pressure line on the power steering. As it sits, I'm looking to replace the following:

- Engine (direct swap for another 350 TBI - new)
- 4-wheel drive actuator
- repair the passenger lock (lock just turns and turns without "catching")
- repair the tailgate (the hatch release doesn't work (possibly another actuator), and the lock is very stiff to key)
- replace the headliner (starting to sag)
- replace the lights on the dash cluster (I think maybe 2 bulbs are still lit)
- replace the fog lamps and switch (switch is gone, and the fog lamps have never worked since I've owned it)
- replace the passenger front quarter panel, a panel (not sure what it is called) on the under side behind the driver door, and the hood as a result of rust

Beyond that, I think the rest of what I'm thinking would be more of a "wish list" for what I want to do. For example, change the seats, install an aftermarket CD player and an in-dash navigation system, install a hitch and trailer brakes/lights for a future boat, and possibly change the wheels to a 17" or 18" Z71 wheel.

One thing at a time though. I'll have the engine and the 4-wheel drive actuator finished by the end of this month, hopefully before the snow starts flying.

Now I have something to add to my list.
About 2 weeks ago my truck had this really hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear,
Couple days later it stops so I'm like "Alright, it's over now yay!" and today it doesn't even WANT to shift. It'll go up to 2200+ RPM's and my truck put's hardcore and shakes like there's an earthquake. It only shifts if I let off the gas around 2800-3000 RPM's. My boss said it could either be the tranny (duh) or the internal clutch is going out. Any ideas?

Clutches/seals. Same thing happened to my 700R4, and I've found out that using Lucas tranny treatment helps keep the clutches/seals working properly.

Figured I'd jump in, need to vent a little anyway. 04 Silverado extended cab with the 4.8L auto. I've had the truck about a year and half and it just hit 41k miles.

Fixed:
Rear brakes, new rotors/pads also broke down cleaned & lubed calipers
Replaced blown front door speakers
Front driver ABS sensor
Oil filler neck fell out and blew oil everywhere
New tires all around, the bad front hub and tie rods ate the previous ones

Still broken:
Gauge cluster stepper motors are bad (at least 3 of them)
Steering column clunk
Rear brakes still dragging, will buy reman calipers this time
Front passenger door speaker still sounds like it's blown (it's brand new)
Front passenger hub
Front driver ABS sensor
Blown G80
Front brakes are almost shot
Front passenger outer tie rod
Passenger brake light intermittantly doesn't work
The truck tells me to change the oil every 800 miles or so (Mobil 1 synthetic with Mobil 1 filter and only 800 miles of light driving?)
And this just started today, on left hand turns only the rear inside wheel drags (very noticably) like I have an extremely tight clutch limited slip

Before anyone says I need to maintain the truck better and not let these things pile up, almost all of the above problems have appeared in the last month or so. With that list I'd acuse myself if I didn't know better. I'm typically good with vehicle maintainance and do all of it myself but this truck is beating the crap out of me. The front brakes, hub, ABS sensor, tie rods and alignment are all getting done this weekend. And I need to figure out the draggin rear tire now.

now that the engine swap's done, i keep getting a flashing red battery on the message center (the battery's new & the alternator tested good). i think the IAC is messing up because when i start it, it goes to ~2000rpm then drops to around 700 (where the tune's set). after a few seconds, it then drops to & lives around 500-475rpm

My 97 3500 was abused by its prior owners and they neglected abunch of small things ( I can go on and on). But the big things that need done are front end work (ball joints, mabey tie rod ends, idler arm ,and possibly pitman arm but hey what do you want from a tow truck). The thing that also needs done and has really pi$$ed me off is the injectors. I have put two sets of used injectors in this truck with no luck. I guess ill just have to wait till I have the money to get new ones.

Bought the 91 gasser in 2006 with money saved up from two grain harvests.

Problems it had when i first had it:
1) Throttle body gasket messed up (lucky I saw that early, don't think much dirt was sucked) (fixed soon after, new GM)
2) Valve seals never got replaced on TSB, smoky startup (still untouched)
3) Tranny output seal shot (changed, dual lip new GM design)
4) pinion seal shot (changed, carquest, timken in USA)
5) squeak, turned out to be u-joints (carquest no-name, USA)
6) thumping vents (got Delco motor, bought gearwrench tiny set, just need to tackle)
7) faulty wiper board (new GM updated unit)
8) chattery clutch (need to fix asap)
9) No odometer/ trip meter (just bought a cluster from e-bay, v-6 5spd 2wd, never got told what the gear ratio was on preevious rig, IDK if this makes a difference)
10) clunk in rear end, has gotten worse over time (will be rebuilding soon)
11) paint sucks (not rusting, not a big issue)
12) Windshield had cracks (needs replaced soon)
13) Body: hood bowed by arms cause of wind catching, bed rusty above wheels, front headboard bent in due to heavy odd piece john deere shoved in at one point, rear bumper tweaked a bit
14) brake light has been on since purchase (bought new abs/speed sensor)
15) CEL was on (changed out oxygen sensor, thats right, sensor! one only on v-6)
16) Door rubs fender (need to rehinge, JD re-hinged then welded, so gonna cut that apart and start over, if no fixy, then align fender)
17) radio sux, (came with am, JD put in aftermarket, I need to get a FM OEM unit)
18) way more nitpicky crap, gonna earn some money and spend it on her

91 GMC diesel half ton
1) bought with 57K, shedded, beautiful truck
1) recent shock & exhaust damage before auction (Bilsteins going in, exhaust was barely scratched)
2) coolant leak (loose clamp, tightened)
3) torn vinyl bench seat (Oh no! :D gonna throw a seat cover on her)
4) nothing else, just gonna throw some good preventive maintenace money at her. (mag-hytec, synthetics, new filters)

95 C3500HD
Dad bought in 06, I bought off of him in 08, neither of us have toched it much
1) shot motor, IDK how shot (gonna buy 94/5 truck, junk, repower this, use it, and then casually tear down the original motor)
2) bellhousing area leaks (will be adressed at swap time)
3) mouse damage to radio wiring, my fault (luckily just insulation, not the strands themselves, gonna clean, disassemble plug, then put heatshring over strands)
4) junk flatbed wiring, junk flatbed (get better bed, then wire right)
5) door hinges shot (replace with OEM)
6) inside RH door handle shot (replace with OEM)
7) **** hood paint, (get hood off of junker truck, local yard has a high mile 6.5L complete white K2500HD for cheap)

Is this all the spending cosolation you need? :D :D...and to think, I am looking at gettin another old girl (5spd 2wd, of course! C2500HD this time)

This is what i get for being pig headed (big fix it list, small parts inventory list) because of me making sure that only my hard earned money buys and fixes my trucks. (i did bow down and let old man pay insurance, cause being a young guy sucks for insurance...I need to save up more and pay him back for insurance and licenseing...)

Eyes hurt yet? :D

1999 Chevy Tahoe 4DR 4WD w/ 111,000 miles (Got it at 107.5k miles)

Problem(s) I've had:
- wouldn't start on occasion, would die while driving. Was a bad battery terminal connection. (Fixed)
- Driver side door pin was garbage just 2 weeks after getting it. (Pins replaced)
- Driver side air vents (for A/C & heat) won't stay in place (so I can feel the air) & are cracked.
- Front valance was torn to hell by previous owner and was poorly repaired + tow hooks were taken off by previous owner. (I've removed the valance today and I'm in the process of getting a new valance and tow hooks)

And that's it.

When I got it at 107.5k I gave it a tune-up (New plugs, wires, fuel/oil/air filters, replaced tranny fluid, engine oil, brakes etc)

It run's like a champ, and not a SINGLE spot of rust anywhere (on the body or the frame)

replaced both doors
replaced outside mirrors
replaced dash wiring harness and cluster
replaced a/c
oil pump

To fix yet

Fuel sender
Bed (probably replace whole thing)

What I've fixed/replaced since buying it October 2009:

- I-shaft
- Parking brake shoe clip on left side broke, causing god awful grinding sounds and dragging. Fixed by removing shoe. Haven't repaired yet.
- Leaking water pump gasket replaced
- Left side half shaft due to blown cv boot
- Replaced blown front shocks
- Greased slip yoke (didn't help with anything, though)

Pending stuff:

- Growl/hum from front end
- Loud clunk when shifting into reverse
- Clunking from 2-3/3-2 shift
- Leaking trans fluid at bell housing
- Possibly leaking oil from above area
- Front diff seeping fluid from case split
- Piston slap that is pretty loud when started in really cold weather. Maybe normal but still annoying.
- Power steering fluid seeping from both the pump seal and the cooler.

I think that's it.....for now.

Oh lord, where should I begin?

Rear seal and bushing on the tail housing needs replaced
Radiator tank has a 6" crack in it that slowly leaks
Clear coat on the roof has basically turned to white powder in places
Doesn't want to return all the way to idle sometimes (insert Toyota joke)
WOT above 3000 rpm is nothing but stumbling
Steering box needs replaced
Rear brakes squeak and need shoes

I know I'm leaving a ton of stuff out. That's probably 1/3 of its current problems. Sure does look pretty though, aye?

Bought at 80k and 4-5 years old
now has 108k
Fixed
Under warranty Catalytic Converters
Battery also under warranty
Pitman idler arm and pass tie rod

paid to have fixed but still broken
got rear-ended and pushed onto a railroad crossing w/ train coming. was raining and icy so I was in Auto 4wd, floored it too avoid getting hit by train, rear end spun up really fast and then it tried to engage front axle. Long story shot, destroyed all the bearings in the transfer case. Paid 2000 to have it fixed and then sent parts to insurance company. Not only did they not pay for it, but the thing still grinds anytime it is in auto 4wd or 4 hi or lo.
After 2 months in and out of shop I gave up.

not fixed
blower motor resistor (no 0 or 1 speed)
blower motor starting to click in speed 2
upon starting, sometimes truck sounds like there is a jar or marbles in the starter. Either loose flexplate, cats, or damaged starter.
trans cooler lines weep and sometimes leak.
tailgate latch broken
steering is loose
rear window is scratched
rocker panels are rusting out
also from accident, CD player sometimes makes a scraping noise
when cold I get the classic chevy knock till it warms up
oh yeah, also
entire 4wd electrical system will sometimes fail (especally in winter) and Have 4wd Serviced will come on DIC, sometimes when this happens the truck decides to start in 4wd lo and wont come out unless I pull the 4wd fuse while coasting in neutral (which is an interesting process)

I swear the next truck will be a toy toy

What's wrong now:
-Fuel sending unit
-Typical 'clunk' in the back somewhere
-Loose steering

What I've done:
-Preventative Maintenance
-Fuel Pump(went on a 2300 mile 5 state trip, came back, did its work the next day, then wouldn't start on the farm when I was going to put it away)--this truck likes me.
-Replaced the grille that I sorta clipped with the tractor...

Fuel Pump
Water Pump
Intake Gaskets
Cats
Idler and Pitman
Oil filter adapter leak
Driver door sag until it wouldn't shut
Rear Diff cover leak
Battery
Front and rear brake pads
Rotors
Master Cylinder
Exhaust leak

Current problems are:
Gas gauge doesn't work right
Driver's door handle is cracked
Driver's seat is ripped on the side

It's almost in perfect working order now!

1988 chevy k1500 reg. cab short bed.

What I've done since purchase in march or so of this year 2009.

rebuilt motor, new everything oil pump, bearings, timing set, cam, lifters, rings, removed smog pump new belt. New thermosta, wires, plugs, coil, cap, rotor, distributor.

A rebuilt th350 with shift kit in place of the leaking 700r4.

used 255/70 16's in place of the dry rotted and worn out 265/75's

New calipers, pads, self adjust on the DS, pads, wheel cylinders.

New battery and wire to the junction block.

New cd player

some new black carpet(thin) glued over the old nasty one, seat cover and some painting inside.

Used steering knuckle on the ds since the caliper mounting hole broke off the original.

Now what's wrong...

Ds fender needs paint,
hood needs changed or fixed, paints cracked and chipped and front edge bent under.
bumper needs the DS bracket fixed it looks hairlipped and it back too far as well as the DS fender.
DS door needs pins and bushings, and the lock doesn't work great. I replaced the latch but it doesn't operate as it should. If I slide the door lock down all the way I gotta climb in the back glass, if I lift the lock lever inside to almost the point of not being locked I can use the key to get in, the PS lock doesn't match, haven't changed it yet.
I think the trans. has a leak from the dipstick.
I also think the thermostat housing might have a leak on the DS.
Brakes travel further then I'd like and we didn't turn the drums or rotors lol
cab corners are rotted out
bed and PS fender show a couple blisters of rust around the wheel lip.
rear bumper is beat up needs changed
headliners gone
radio cuts in and out sometimes, might have fixed that, fuse was loose in the fusebox.
DS vent visor is broke off LOL
tailgate sticks and rattles.

I think that's it.

Hmm, Well 95 1500 X-cab 305 w/5 speed manual. I believe getrag. Owned 10 yrs. My DD for 8. Never a serious problem even though I put her through hell n back. Chirpin third all the time. Inside bed torn to hell from 8 months with a fire hydrant in there slappin around while i pretended to be in fast n the furious. Pas side bed crinckled when someone backed into her. Tranny in bed freshly rebuilt 2 yrs ago never installed. "Finally broke some aluminum piece when I threw it in 2nd for a burn in a hard turn loaded down. driver side interior handle broken off. front fenders off junkyard truck after flying into a ditch. **** windshield wipers seem to sit a lil higher than they used too.
Fuel level indicator likes to jump around when about half full. And just plain ol time after sitting 2 yrs and to think she most likely wont be back on the road till I get my license back late 2014. Cant believe its been two years.. But heh I can still tell you how much she likes a powerslide. redlines 2nd about 45 3rd at 70 4th about 90 and hits a brick wall around 110.. It always took what I gave it andn laughed as if I was only teasing. Got big plans and 4 yrs for her as soon as i can cram her in the garage.

What's wrong with my truck, hmmm. It has the wrong transmission it it which makes the speedometer not work, the A/C compressor is missing as are the lines, the fan for the heat isn't working, the inside lights stay on so I removed the bulbs, I think the starter just died and the paint job looks like it was rolled on. What can I say, I still like my truck.

1994 4.3L ext cab silverado. 5sp Im the second owner
255 xxx Km.

repairs:

-Rear axle seal replaced as precaution (winter was coming)
-Exaust manifold flange where fixed (downpipe flanges replaced)
-refilled transmission (was missing <400ml)
-replace temperature sender( problem was actually the preheater pipe)

not yet repaired:
-the intake air heater pipe broke off (takes longer to warm up)
-Cruise control stopped working

What's to be done in the next 3 years is rear brake lines and the heater's blower. It makes a horrible screeching noise whenever it's under -25c outside. Powering it on and off several times makes it work again

Been running synthetic oil since 2000. Still on factory everything and beside oil/filters/spark plugs/belt, the powertrain is still all oem, clutch included. The g80 still works about 50% and the rest of the axle is perfect.

Im in the market for a 1998 crewcab, but I'm unable(locally) to find one in that shape. Mine's a survivor that shows how far good maintenance go. I've had people ask me what year it is at gas stations dozens of times.

I'm sorry to post this on a GM forum.

I have an 01 burban and a 2000 obs k2500, the suburban with 8.1l has/had some slappy noise it does have 110k but I switched to full synthetic oil sure quieted down the noise. Same thing with the 2000 it has the 7.4l. The only thing I make sure to do is warm them up before hammering the go pedal.

Everything. Literally.

Starting from when I bought the truck:

Missing hood, fenders, bumper, grille, valence, lights, etc, frame horn slightly bent, core support bent.
Radio didnt work.
Rear axle cover leaked
Dash trim missing
Key cylinder was broke so it started w/o a key
Rear brakes shot.
Window switches missing/windows wont go down.

Bought brand new hood, fenders, bumper, grille, lights, valence, core support, and straightened frame. Replaced radio and speakers. Fixed rear axle leak and found a trim cover for the dash.

Engine needed tune up, so I bought plugs, wires, cap, rotor, TBI kit, filters, and belt.

Speedometer, heater, and 4x4 kept going out because the heater fuse kept melting. Speedo pickup replaced, didnt fix problem. Key switch started acting up, so bought a new one with keys, didnt solve the problem, so ignition slider was replaced. It had shorted internally and was what was causing the heater/4x4/speedo problem.

Turn signal assy failed, replaced.

Oil pressure sending units fail, replaced.

Rear axle is now 1 wheel wonder (G80)

Alternator fails, replaced.

Head gasket failure, did entire top end on engine. Injector o-ring failed and replaced.

Heater fan dies shortly thereafter, replaced. Heater box lever broke, have to reach under dash to change from defrost to floor.

Headlight goes out, go to replace with new one, find that the plug is melted, replaced. Taillight circuit boards rusty causing lights not to work, replaced.

Exhaust falls off, replaced with custom one. Transfer case selector breaks, rewelded.

Transmission loses 3rd and 4th, engine overheats and spins every bearing. :cussing:

Found another block and fully rebuilt, trans rebuilt to Stage 3, installed. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and TBI kit again. Radiator replaced from contaminaion. Oil coolers lines leaked and deleted. During break in ignition module fails, replaced.

Power steering pump starts knocking, yet to replace.

Cruise control box stopped working.

Steering box loose, adjusted, rest of steering joints need replaced.

New oil pump and/or bypass valve semi-failure, yet to fix.

Transfer case starts to slip in 4 HI.

Front axle gernaded when pulling another truck from ditch. Instead of fixing the axles, transfer case, and steering parts, I am swapping a complete 1 ton chassis (frame, axles, tcase, etc) and will be replacing the steering parts, bushings, body mounts, etc then.

Someone please explain why I keep this truck!! :loser:

And the list will go on as I find new stuff everyday.

- Driver side air vents won't stay in place (so I can feel the air) & are cracked.

-A/C compressor wont kick on
-Keyless Entry remote only works if you are closer than 10 feet from the vehicle
-Sometimes, when rolling down the front passenger window (Power) the window makes a sort of grinding/whining noise
-Left Rear speaker in the roof (over the barn doors) doesn't work (stock ****ty 4x10)

1994 Silverado 4X4 extended cab 5.7L. If it had gas shocks, it would virtually be a Z-71. Canadian made. Burgandy with tan leather int. It has the black side view mirrors that came on 95'-who'd of thunk it(?).

Things that have been fixed.
*water pump and radiator around 120,000
*starter rebuilt around 150,000
*New grill around 145,000 (an owl helped me with this one)
*Alternator rebuilt at 160,000
*A/C compressor went out around 180,000-removed it and installed a dummy pulley. Since returning from Iraq in 05', it just doesn't seem that hot here in NC
*High pressure P/S hose busted (wife drove it while I was over seas and turned the wheel against the stop. She was used to her mini van turning tighter-Duh)
*Transmission rebuilt around 205,000
*another water pump at 122,000

It currently has 227,000 and just blew a head gasket. I am having it rebuilt.

*Now-Motor rebuild
*Pitman arm replacement
*Wipers work when THEY want to
*Leather bucket seats (front) are worn and need recovering on the outside edge
*some of the factory equalizer position lights don't work
*forgot this one-the kids broke the latch to the sliding glass in the back (thanks kids)

I got it when it had 129,000 (hand me down from dear old dad). The 1st 100,000miles, she pulled a 24' offshore boat back and forth to the beash (184 miles one way) about 30 times a year. Thats about it. Been a really great truck so far and looking to get at least another 100,000 from her.

drivers side window regulator
turn signal switch

what I've replaced:
distributor cap/rotor/plugs/wires
valve cover/intake manifold/thermostat gaskets

Still needs paint and some minor body work.
The passenger side rear speaker has a wiring issue somewhere.
The dome light was shorting out. Fixed it while I was swaping some interior parts. But the screw holes for the dome are half a half inch. So for now, the light is hanging by wires.

Nothing really currently wrong, just needs some more power.

fuel pump & filter
battery
starter
alternator
neutral safety switches
heater core
headlight switch
high beam switch
lock cylinders and door handles
clutch assembly, fork, slaver and master cylinder
2nd gear synchro
power window switches
tires and brakes obviously
EGR valve and solenoid
throttle position sensor
Ignition coil and module
windshield
ABS system (I didn't fix it, just unplugged it)
Cruise control switch
thermostat

Never mind the paint that was peeling off and having to strip it clean so the next paint job would stick.

burnt up the 700r4 12 times because of the T.V. Cable not adjusted correctly.
finally installed a th400 with 150,000miles lasted bout 20,000miles or so
then bought a jegs th400, brother installed, i was out of town, he rigged a driveshaft, tore it up in 30miles sold truck
Driverside rear tire fell off after getting new tires from Firestone. they installed the tires.

2003 Silverado 1500 ecsb
4X4 Autotrac
Bought in 2008 with 42,000 miles

Whats gone wrong (whats gone right would be a shorter list)

Fuel pressure regulator 43,XXX miles (warranty, GM certified preowned warranty)
Drivers side front wheel bearing/hub 57,XXX miles
Gauge cluster 65,XXX miles (extended special guage cluster warranty)
Factory battery exploded/blew the side post right off the battery!, was original, probably a good run at 68,XXX miles
Tcase pump wore hole through case, leaked like crazy, patched with JBweld, read on...71,XXX miles
Drivers side front speaker blown (I don't listen to my stereo loud, never have) 73,XXX miles
Intake gaskets, 84,XXX miles
Tcase JBweld fix failed, and wore 2nd hole in case, had to pull transfer case, replace pump clip with redesigned clip and epoxy holes again. 87,XXX miles
Service Airbag light came on, found chaffed wire under passenger seat that was grounding out, easy fix 90,XXX miles

Still to be repaired....

Both front axle seals are bad/leaking, will deal with that this spring.
Hour meter in DIC resets at random, don't think there is a fix for this
Auto trac Tcase may as well not have "AUTO" setting, it binds so bad on dry pavement that you'd swear it was locked in 4 high, I don't have a G80, and it has brand new Autotrac II fluid in the Tcase, bad/warped clutch steels??

Thats all I can think of right now, I'll update when I remember more..

MAN do I miss my supercrew F150, It had 150,000 trouble free miles.... I was told that the Silverado would be an upgrade by family and friends (my uncle is a manager at a local Chevrolet dealership) who knew I'd get a damn Lemon!! Love the looks of this truck, but would trade it straight up to have my Ford back. Had a '99 Monte Carlo that I loved, I know they aren't all bad, but this thing is getting rediculous, Its a good thing I am a shade tree mechanic and have been able to do all my own repairs!!

The control arm for the vent setting damper is hanging loose causeing the air to blow out all vents all the time.

Needs 4 new tires due to a busted rim and the tires that are on it are no longer produced.

Ive owned my 98 K1500 for 2.5yrs now and its been the most reliable vehicle Ive had.In the 2.5 yrs Ive owned it I havent had to do much besides regular maintnance on it,only problem I had was Intake Manifold Gasket, all other things like wheel beairngs, pitment arms, brakes are regular things that I always stay on top of.

My truck is driven to and from the jobsite everday, trail driven, towed sleds all winter and it has 370,500km's on it,its a BEAST I love it.I treat the truck good and take care of it,thats why its as dependable as it is.

1997 chevy k1500 ecsb. First off this is my 7th fullsize chevy of the 88-98 body style ranging from lowered to lifted. My current is lifted. Bought it 2 weeks ago.
So far replaced:
Front shocks (bushings shot)
Driver side upper ball joint (moog)
The steering position sensor
Both door Handles exterior
And new gas strut on hard toneau cover.

Whats left:
spark plugs near expiration got 70k on them according to prev owner
new valve body in transmission (doing the jerk shifts only after highway driving)
new door locks (long story)
new idler and pitman and alignment
new steering pump or gear box or both (may get for 96 instead to get ride of evo system)
new rear shocks and swapping from 4 to 5 inch angled blocks for rear
shampoo carpets
tint front door windows windows
get rest of rocker chrome off

That about sums it up then it will be time to sell it. Thats what I do is buy full sizes cheap and do em up and sell em. Cant drive anything perfect it bothers me after couple weeks that there isnt any thing to do.

I had to replace the motor in my '92 after an oil pump failure. The salvage motor has a lifter tick. Not a crisis, just annoying. I need new cab bushings so the body lines up right. There are dents down the driver side and a small smashed area where the PO must have backed into something. Overall, it's a daily driver with some small problems.

99 Suburban bought with 130K miles; currently at 195K. Replaced water pump, battery and tires. It does have a few issues that I will have to drop some money on......broken door handle, leaking radiator, possible fuel pump. But 2 years and 60K miles with a few hundred in repairs is remarkable in my book. This is my second Suburban of the same vintage with low operating cost.....except of course gas.

- I've broken the handle inside the passenger's door jamb 5 times (too strong for my own good)

Ongoing issues:
- Rear diff leaks (resealed 4+ times)
- Both bumpers dented and rusty (bought it that way)
- Power steering and water pumps both leaking (hopefully fixed this month)
- Rock chips everywhere
- Receiver hitch is ****eyed (backed into a VW with my drop-hitch; that's what you get parking 9" behind my truck with a car that's shorter than my tailgate)

Fixed:
New 5.7 V8 crate motor,
Performance transsmission custom built
Windshield replaced (33in crack)
Windshield wiper motor,
Dash fixxed and Painted black, along with trim
A/c unit removed for horsepower,
transcooler
Headlights, taillights, and parking/turn signals replaced
Replaced headliner and recovered the sun visors
instead of OBS delete pocket, made a neon lighted skull display

Messed up:
Driver Side Window, makes the regulator skip in 2-3 spots on the way up.
Pass. door missing arm rest,
Pass. side bed has LARGE dent, (found it coming out of best buy that way)
as well as rediculous amount of rust,
Pass. side front end has dented hood and dented fender (Came out of School and found that from hit and run)
rear aftermarket tail light cracked from weather
Paint is Horrible....

Parts to be ordered tomorrow:

New front shock (broken upper stud), upper and lower control arms(balljoints and bushings are wore out, and it's cheaper to go this route than buy all the parts and get them pressed in),inner/outer tie rods (left side is bent pretty good), new steering rack (has about an 3/8" of play in it before the wheels move), swaybar endlinks (might as well everything else is getting replaced), right front hub assembly (replaced the left side a year ago, right side now has a little bit of play in it), outer rear axle bearings and seals, (I've noticed them starting to get loud, inners were replaced with the carrier when I lifted it).

Truck has just under 190K miles on it, so most of it is to be expected, just glad I caught all the bad before I lost a wheel.

i sold my 97, it was costing to much. so i bought a 2003 under the understanding it had a 5.3, and i swore i checked at least a dozen times, and was sure it had it. but no it has a 4.8l with 4.10gears. i've had it for about 2 months, so far i've done
-left front hub
-rear brakes
-park brake cables
-right front upper & lower balljoint
-front axle seals
-transmission cooler lines
-spare tire & hoist
-grille broken, cover with inserts for now.
-ac takes a while to warm up....ah cool off, something like that, think the hepa filter is plugged blocking the air flow.

and right now the 4x4 is acting up. i put it in the other day, worked fine, just after i pushed the 2wd button, the service 4x4 light came on. cycled the key, message went away but now every time i start the truck, the transfer case is either in neutral, 4lo, 4hi, or auto, but never in 2wd where i shut it off at. tech 2 wouldn't communicate with the transfer case the first time i scanned it, after disconnecting the battery, and retrying, its givign me encoder circut codes. going to replace the sensor in the encoder motor and redue the grounds and repin the connector and give it the latest updates, hopefully that fixes it.

thats it really, for now anyway.

99 tahoe ls 4x4
140k

No major problems per se, mostly just maintenance over the years. worst failures were the brake booster, brake line and power steering line. Overall has been a great truck.

It needs today to be 100%:
-filler between bumper and grill
-new lighted sun visors
-ball joints (all)
-front sway bar bushings
-rotors turned
-drivers side cv boot (found that yesterday)

I'll do most of that before I put it up for sale next week.

Well Just picked up a '99 C2500 w/ Utility bed. It has 65k original miles. I know this by the fact that I just had to remove the Alignment knockouts to have the truck aligned. I also replaced both sides inner tie-rod, Idler arm, and Pitman arm. Drives much better now. Now its time to repair the AC and Blower motor.

2000 swb 4x4 5.3 liter. 197K (brutal miles I may add)
tow haul button not working
someone destoyed the passenger side AC vent dileos
did the idler and pitman arms, steers tight now
little oil leak after I jumped some rocks
dents all over it so my pass. door is a bit tough to close sometimes
I did the fuel pump and filter
had a "crank" circuit fuse go out on me once
all in all it has a bunch of miles on almost all original drive train (except for u-joints) and this truck kicks butt. It's called the golf ball as it's white and all dented up, I work the piss out of this truck working construction and beating the tar out of it in the woods, and it runs like a scalded cat. Still get 18+ on the freeway last I checked.
my 92 s10 made it 275k on the original drive train and ran when I stripped the motor down.

BIG List....
First Machical problems.
Need a engine. This one has had it.. 257,XXX miles. have a burnt valve
Transmission . second one with in 10,000 miles. First one was rebuilt( didn't last 8,000)
Broken sway bar linkage. (have no idea so don't ask)
Parking cable snapped( Have no Idea how.)

Second, Interior.
Windshield starting to crack across the middle to both sides.
The driver seat just fell off the hinges when I got in the truck.
Glove box hinge fell off. (Driving and the glove box just fell open.)
Interior lights button broke, both sides

That is the major things , still some minor ones. But must admit, I still love this truck. Also some of the "injurious" could have been avoided.

Whats wrong?

1. Weird clunking noise from left/front corner when going over a bump, cant tell if it is inside or outside the cab.
2. Drivers door seal continuous whistling leak.
3. 3 nearly new tires, one brand-new unmatching...dont ask.
4. squeaking serpentine belt tensioner
5. various nicks and dings in x-liner (and body, bed, tailgate etc).
6. hole in passenger side seat.
7. rattling passenger door speaker
8. suspicious shifting of 4l60e (sometimes soon, sometimes late, sometimes hard, sometimes not) (already changed fluid and filter)
9. crappy oem radio
10. turn-radius? What turn-radius? maybe a whole acre?
thats all I can think of now>

headliner failing at both doors (one is falling, the other I cut off/ trimmed)
knock sensor code (dealer quoted me $500, prob do it myself)
a/c seems to be struggling, comp. stays on, low pressure switch maybe
needs a paint job and a lift
trans has pms (random monthly issues lasting a few days)

also, temp gauge does't work. at first is was my speedo and then oil pressure. when replacing all of the steppers, I overheated the temp circuits. tried a new stepper, still didn't work

I bought my truck as a project knowing it needed a lot of work but there we're a few "surprises" that I didn't expect.
What I knew it needed:
02 Sensor
Windshield
Exhaust
Rockers
Floor on driver's side
Tires
What happened/ What I found after I bought it:
Fuel pump
No key for the door locks (good thing the back slider was open)
Coolant temp sensor
Battery
Starter
Found out it was in some sort of collision on the front driver's side, I knew it had a new fender (thought it was because of rust) then found welded bumper brackets and a welded diff and the front end is all out of wack.
Door handle stopped working
3 of 4 speakers dont work
reverse lights dont work
really annoying lifter "tick"
New battery not working properly and I have to return
and I'm probably missing alot

I did bought it for a fun toy, and for its rare options (reg cab, short box, 5 speed, 4x4, 4.3 litre that I want to either swap for a v8 or do some kind of 4.3 build just to be different) and I still love it.

Im not that picky on whats wrong cosmedicly since it kinda makes the truck special so im not listing those. So for me its:

Alignment/steering problems
Non working AC
Idk whats up with my transmission
I think original rear shocks(97 truck)
Burns some oil(think its valve seals but they been replaced like 5k miles ago)
Broken/faded turn lights

Thats the most important things i can think of at the moment.

fuel pump 135,000 mi
front wheel bearing units 145,000 mi
all u-joints 146,000 mi
leaky manifold (classic vortec prob) 150,000 mi
serviced a/c 125,000 mi, no prob, just low on coolant
gov-bomb does not work
replaced pitman and idler arms 150,000 mi
check engine light won't go off, was O2 sensor code, now bad egr valve (blocked it off)
that cured my engines mystery stumble

needs to be 100%:
front brakes (they're fine other than the rotors are rusted badly)
egr valve (as long as they're $150, it's not happening)
green coolant instead of dex-cool
replace cracked windshield (it's the original with the truck)
new tires

Headliner is falling down.
Both sunvisors have loose fabric as well.
Probably needs an alignment.
Probably needs new tires
Needs a tag light
Needs a bumper
Needs a paint job- Pink doesn't work too well.
Has a transmission leak according to the Previous owner.
Has a yoke leak from the driveshaft to the rear axle.
Probably needs brakes.
Needs the door panels re-installed.
Needs the passenger door handle exterior lock fixed (giggling).
Needs a new driver interior door handle.
Needs 3 new speakers.
Needs an antenna adapter.
Needs a cage for the Alpine headunit.
Needs the smoothie front bumper installed instead of sitting in the bed.
Needs the transmission linkage install in the gauge cluster.
Needs the dash kit installed for the radio.
Need to buy the cd holder for the aftermarket thing as well.
Probably needs a knock sensor installed.
Want to put a 5"/7" drop.
Want some 18" wheels.
Want a 2-tone paintjob.
Want a rollpan.
Want an interior color change to gray.
Want to powdercoat some things.
Want to POR15 the frame and some suspension.
Want to disc brake the rearend.
Want to bedline the bed.
Want to candy the taillights.
Want to Halo the front end
Want a GMC 94-98 front grill.

When all of that is done, I'll be happy.
So far, I've:
Replaced the fuel tank.
Replaced the map sensor.
Replaced the idle air motor sensor.
Changed the oil
Cut the tie down cables and lock on it.
Installed the alpine headunit.
Installed a new driver exterior door handle.

95 Suburban K1500 350 TBI, 175K miles

Self induced AC leak -While removing the + battery cable with a wrench, it broke free and the other end of the wrench hit the aluminum AC line and sent full battery power causing a POP, spark, and then hissssssssss. :grant:

Whooop Whooop! I love it when I screw stuff up.

I put a thick piece of rubber gasket material and hose clamp on the hole. So far it is holding.

interior door handle broke,
gauges bounce/jerk
Fuel gauge reads full for the first 200 miles
Half of the dash lights are out
seats torn
New battery doesn't fit in the tray (too big)
rear end sags like it's carrying 500 lbs
needs ball joints
Rear U-joint clunks when shifting from R to D

But for $1700 + $600 invested
I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!! :10:

Rear wheel seal leaking
Needs new rotors & drums
Tick in the exhaust
Cats are failing --> throwing codes
Big annoying dent on box... looks like Chuck Norris kicked it
