85 chevy drop

I want to lower my 85 chevy fullsize and wanted to know how much I could drop it without cutting the driveshaft, I have a 700r4 tranny in it, I had to shortin the tailshaft 1 inch so the driveshaft wouldn't ram up in the trans. Stock tranny was a 350 turbo.
