So I finally got around to working on my amp/subwoofer install again, and now I have a problem/question I need help with.

I installed an Alpine HU a couple of months ago, and to do that I had to remove the stock tape deck/equalizer as well as the silver module under the dash. This left a couple of connectors with nowhere to go, and since then my aftermarket remote starter/remote lock/unlock doesn't work. I figured it was just one of the two grounds that I hadn't reconnected (the other ground is for a fog light switch with no fog lights).

Today I got around to finishing up the install (antenna wire adapter, HU install kit, etc.) and I reconnected the two grounds that were previously hanging loose. I then tried the remote functions, and still nothing worked. Is it somehow connected to the stock radio setup? It is possible that I forgot to reconnect another terminal that I didn't see, because I was kind of fed up with working on it.

I had a couple other problems with the amp/sub install, but I'll try to figure those out once I get my multimeter working again.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Phil

depending on who installed it, they might have tagged 12V/ACC/ground behind the radio...if so, never go there again because theyre a bunch of ****in retards...but its possible.

You didnt have to disconnect the battery or anything did you? Check under your dash, you should see some random fuses hanging around, pull them...one at a time and check to see if theyre blown. Dont have more than one fuse pulled at once though. In theory, it shouldnt matter...but a theory is just that...a theory

I don't know who installed the remote or where. The thing still makes a beeping sound when I press the button on the remote, and a light flashes on the receiver thingy mounted on the windshield, so it's still getting power. It just doesn't actually send any commands to the respective circuits.

I don't remember if I had disconnected the battery when I installed the HU, but I did disconnect it today.

I'll have to take a look at the whole setup more closely, but that won't be for another couple of weeks as I'm hitting the road again tomorrow. In the meantime, I'd like to get as much input as possible from you guys.

I don't even know why I'm bothering to fix this... I don't need the remote starter because it's getting warm again, and I'm trying to sell the truck, at which point I'll probably reinstall the stuck radio again. In any case, I want to get it fixed because it's pissing me off now.

Thanks,

Phil

do the parking lights still blink? It might just need to get reprogrammed. What kind of alarm is it, do you know?

No, I don't think the parking lights do blink any more. Not sure of the brand, the key fob doesn't say anything on it.
