I have a Chevy 2000 ext-cab. It's all auto powered. Everytime I open the driver's side door it squeaks. I've notice that the top and bottom hinges are in good condition. But the part that is long and skinny. It looks like as if it's some kind of guide. It is between the two door hinges, it's loose and rusted. I think that is the culprit. So, does anybody know what it is call and how do I replace it?

I had the same problem with my 2000 also. The door"check arm"( i think it's called ) is what needs to be replaced. I think you are right on, the skinny arm with the bushing on the end of it. I put the new one in and it works better then new. Also, unless you replace it, it WILL get worse, drove me nuts......
I'll get the correct name if you need it.

Would you do that please. Give me the name. Also, did you replaced you or did you have someone else do it for you? If you did it by yourself, was it hard? Do you remember how much it cost?

Let me find the paperwork and i'll let you know. I had it done, i was having other stuff done at the time so i don't know how hard it is. I think it's just removal of the door panel and unbolt.
