new to modifications

hey guys I am extremly new to modifiying trucks and I had some questions. I have the money top put a cold air intake and an exhaust on my car, and had some questions. I have a 2005 tahoe 5.3l with 25k miles and live in Texas. I like the sound of either the flowmaster 40 series or dynomax bullets. I went to the flowmaster site and put in my car it keeps telling me to get the big block 50 series cat back system does that mean the 40 series wont fit my truck? Also what does it mean to have true duals, i read a lot of people saying that when it came to bullets. So if I want a good sounding a performing exhaust, do I buy the cat back exhaust system or like the muffler and some pipes? Am i going to need to buy one muffler or two mufflers? Guys if you guys could help me out that would be awesome I have the money to go and get the stuff right now and am eager. Any help would be awesome.

True dual means that there are two exhaust pipes that run from each manifold with out connecting into one pipe. I belive that if you go with ordering an exhaust thru Flowmaster it will not be a true dual, it will most likly run two pipes out one muffler. Do you want true dual?

well is there a difference in sound? And how much more do u have to buy to make it in a true dual? I plan to get an intake and header as well.

Personally I think it dosen't matter as far as sound quality goes but some people say true dual has a better stereo sound. True dual will also give you much better flow depending on pipe size, I would take care of the headers at the same time you do the exhaust. What do you have in Texas as far as cat converter regulations? Can you get away with removing them?

We have to keep the cats on here in Texas.

Something to think about as far as sound goes, is how much sound do you want in the cab of your hoe when doing 70mph on the highway? I had the 40series flow on my old ext. cab silverado and it sounded great, except for when I was doing about 67mph to almost 80mph. It would drown out all the noise in the cab with a loud drone, it almost made it hard to talk on the phone it was so loud. I went with the 50 series big block this time because I have a crew cab now, and was told that the more interior space that you have, the louder the drone gets. Know when doing highway speeds, I can barely hear it at all. I am going to order an electric exhaust cut-out so that when I want all out flow and sound it's at the touch of a button.
