no he has some sorta king cobra 40oz intake. This airdam scoop goes from the tow hook area up to the bottom, his is all underhood.

Yeah, he has the Vararam, I remembered halfway through my post.

unless volant has corrected the issue...I recall someone doing a dyno comparrison and the volant actually caused a 5.3 to lose power...not gain.

wow...how would that happen?
Its one of the most expensive kits, I would think it would produce good numbers :dunno:

I looked at the Volant kit too, but decided on the S&B because dyno numbers where very close from what I was told. I am going to order the volant ram air tube though, and install it on the S&B.
I thought about installing the tube on another kit like you said. It would require some kind of flange to bolt to the bottom...believe it or not a toilet flange has the right size
btw...I wanted to the S&B in person before I decided but someone didnt show up at Texas Showdown :slap:

Hey JB, TXsilverado over on PT.net has the volant with the ram air hooked up. I don't think he see's any gains in the 1/4 with the ram air...he's raced with and without it.
I don't know of anybody over here that's got the ram air tube, but I don't know everybody over here:crazy:

damn...work on something will ya....you dont even have any grease under your nails
I have the Volant with the lower scoop. I can't give you an HP or ET comparisons since I've never dynoed or drag raced my truck. I will tell you this, the Volant air box is the highest quality aftermarket air box that I have ever seen. The fit and finish were perfect. The entire assembly is made out of thick high quality materials. Installation was a snap since everything fit exactly as it should. Plus, it makes the truck sound cool. I do reccomend the Volant.
I have a Vararam on my Corvette, and it is a total POS. The materials are flimsy, the fit is terrible, the assembly looks unfinished. The materials are cheap as hell. The filter is a joke. I would stay as far away from a Vararam product as I could. From what I have seen, the Silverado Vararam is just a crappy as the 'Vette one.

I am a Volant man myself. Great product although the company itself is a PITA to deal with. Very difficult to get someone there if needed.
One note on the Ram Air Scoop for the Volant. IT really won't help your 1/4 mile times. It only benefits the vehicle at highway speeds when there is enough air flow to make it functional. Even Volant claims this. By the time you get up enough speed at the drag strip for it to start working you are 3/4 of the way done. Around town and from a dead stop the scoop won't do anything. Mainly it will give you some highway power and MPG gains. Not sure if it really is worth $125 for that? The CAI itself though I highly recommend.
