My truck needs an exhaust and I require assistance in selecting the right combo of parts to make it look/sound good and also perform reasonably well. The motor was replaced 5 years ago with a GM Goodwrench 350ci crate motor. The current exhaust was cutoff just after the catalytic converter and I can hear a leak near the manifold.
My thought was to purchase a set of shorty headers to replace the stock manifolds and pair it with a good cat/muffler/piple combo. However I'm not exactly a mechanical/performance genius, so perhaps this doesn't even make sense...hence this post.
I DO live in a county with emissions testing, so I cannot go buck wild. Also, as is generally the rule of thumb, I am not made of money, so keeping the costs reasonable (whatever that means) would be awesome.
I am looking for as much feedback/suggestions as humanly possible.
Thanks.
