View Full Version : Driver Door Lock Priority

I am going to be installing power door locks, keyless entry, and an alarm on a 1992 silverado. Now, the keyless entry / Manual door locks I bought from A1 Electric about a year ago (I been a little busy) They are central locking, which means that if you unlock one both unlock, without the need for a switch. A1 said they do not support what I want to do which is, when I press the keyless entry once, the driver's door will unlock, again the passenger, one at a time basically, instead of both at once. Any help for this would be appreciated, I am thinking I will need a relay or two, but I'm not sure, if you need to know the kind of keyless entry/ alarm just let me know. Thank you for your time.

I have an idea of how to do it and i have it drawn out, but i dont see where to attach files on here...so let me know your email and ill send it that way. I am warning you, Id be really surprised if it worked...lol. And since im not actually doing it trouble shooting would be damn near impossible for me to do over the internet.
Sorry I didnt get to your PM earlier, I read it and didnt have time to respond then, then i forgot about it.
12V is a red wire at the ignition harness
Ignition is a pink wire at the ignition harness
Parking lights is a brown wire at the switch or the fuse panel
Door trigger is a white wire at the light under the dash
Horn trigger is a brown wire at the ignition harness

Thanks I appreciate it, so basically I just connect the wire for the alarm to the courtesy lights and horn. I'll Pm you the email.
I'm down to try anything have the system set up in my living room with a 12v jump box trying to get familiar with it so I can snap it in place when I go to install it so whatever you come up with I'll give a try.

thats correct. I also have some DEI back-up battery sirens for sale. Basically, if someone is able to rip out your brain, disconnect the battery, or cut the wire that goes to the siren, this siren will still go off. The link is in my signature.

If anyone else has any ideas or has done this before your comments/ideas would be appreciated. Seems like no one on the internet has done it before, or I'm using the wrong keywords on google.
Thanks

I have a marksman m5 that if setup with 3 relays I can press the unlock btn once and the drivers door unlocks, again then the pass door unlocks
the keyless entry that you have now might work if you have lock motors in both doors and wire them up with a alarm that has outputs for drivers and pass doors
if the setup is like my volvo you have a switch hooked up to the drivers door lock, when you turn the key the switch locks or unlocks the rest of the doors
I thought it was a nice feature for about a month before I ripped it out and went back to having both doors working at the same time

Yes I am going to be installing the power door locks and they will be central(where both lock/unlock at the same time) but I want to wire it so that I can use the keyless entry I am installing at the same time, to unlock driver, then passenger. Thanks

so you want to be able to disarm the alarm with the remote then open the door with the key,or use the remote to disable the alarm and open the door at the same time?
or do you just want the remote to unlock the drivers door first and not worry about both doors unlocking when you turn the key, because having keyless entry defeats the purpose of having to us a key with central locking
I hope this makes sense

I want to disarm the alarm, and unlock the driver side door at the same time with the keyless entry. I do not want both doors to unlock either way at the same time, key or keyfob. I want to be able to unlock/disarm one at a time, like, Press once, disarm alarm, unlock driver side, press again, unlock passenger side, OR use key to just unlock driver side. Basically I want to disable the central locking part and make it progressive I believe its called.

ok what you need is a alarm that has drivers door unlock priority and 2 door lock motors
is this the kit you have?
http://www.a1electric.com/mes.htm
if so you should be able to use the motors and just hook up the 2 wires that open and close the lock not using the switch wires
the way those work is theres a switch inside the motor that senses if your locking the door by moving the lock or key, so it triggers the motor (like pressing the button on a car with factory power locks)
if that doesnt work you can use http://www.a1electric.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AEOS&Product_Code=W15F
and then everything gets wired up as per the alarm instructions

I do have the 5 wire actuators.
I think I may be misunderstanding you.
I took and put 12 volts to the alarm brain. I then wired up the three wires for the keyless entry. from brain to actuator and pressed the keyfob to lock or unlock. The brain would click like it was getting the signal but it would not lock or unlock the actuator. If I wire up the actuators so they are working like central lock with the keyless then everything works. But when I try to do one or the other its a no go If I am miss understanding I am sorry. But I think we are on the same page. Thank you. Also so you are a little more aware, this is the alarm I am wiring up.

damn, just the opposite of what i want to do. with the factory keyless entry on my 2001, it won't unlock both doors with a single press/simultaniously. sucks ass.

marksman is designed to have that feature though.

I got this from Experts exchange, the guy said it would only take one relay, but the diagram shows three.

I looked at the manual for your alarm, you need to wire the relays in the way Exalted showed you using the aux/trunk output to unlock the pass doors

if i might ask, why is unlocking the passenger door second such a big deal?

Not a big deal just like the idea of it seeming stock, some people are weird about things they are not familiar with so if I go to get rid of the truck, it's easier one me. Just my thought.
Thanks again for your help guys.
