First off, what all signals from the motor is needed to run a 4l60e with the factory ECU? Because Im wanting to drop in a carburated sbc 400 in my truck and Im thinking about patching together a way to use the factory computer to control my tranny. The TCI controller is just way too much money for what im doing. I believe that the TPS is the main if not only sensor needed for the transmission. Could somebody help me out here?!?!!?

All the guys I know that go the carb route drop the 4L60E in place of a 700R4. Carb+700R4 or TBI+4L60E. Take your pick. Anything else gets complicated.

Just drop in the 400 and hook up a TPS and you can run the 4l60e.

I have seen the TCI trans controllers on ebay for $350US.

There was a guy who carbed a Vortec 350 Tahoe and all he added was the TPS sensor and it all worked great.

The 4l60e needs a TPS sensor signal, a VSS signal and 1 or 2 other inputs.

Airdeano, what inputs does the 4l60e need to work properly?????

Hookup the TPS, MAP, CTS, Distributer Reference Pulse to the PCM and your 4L60E will shift just like it did with the TBI engine.

Also the VSS signal is needed for "kickdown" shifts as well as RPM from the DRP's. Oh yeah, don't forget to hook up the TCC and the input from the brake pedal so TCC unlock works as designed. HTH

I thought the CTS was used to enable lockup in most if not all of the 4L60E calibrations out there.

I figured the VSS is a given. I was thinking more what he would need to adapt to the carbed engine to make the transmission shift.
