Hello,
I am putting my battery back in the bed of my truck for clearance issues. I plan on running a dedicated alternator lead to the battery, but have a few questions.
1. The distance this wire will have to go is about 20 ft. The alternator itself is a high output unit putting out approx. 220 amps. Should I run a 0 gauge for the alt lead or should I do 4 gauge?
2. I plan of fusing the wire with some high amp ANL fuses, but where should they go? Should it be closer to the alternator or closer to the battery?
Also, I am looking to do a "remote battery post" using this part.

That way I can run a 0 gauge wire from the battery to this somewhere under the truck and run the starter, fans, fuse box and stereo from there instead of running all those wires to the battey. This will keep the amount of cables comming into the bed to a minimum and still get the power where it needs to go. Does that sound like a decent idea? Would there be anything wrong with doing it this way?
Thanks,
Chad
