I am looking for a factory hitch receiver for a 2003 NBS 1500 Silv. I could get an aftermarket one but I really like the looks of the OE hitch receiver. If anyone has one for sale, please let me know. I am looking for the receiver, wiring hardware (basically the plug from the socket on the hitch to the socket under the bed), and the mounting hardware if you have it. I can probably get other hardware to mount it but if you got it, I would use it.

If you have one for sale, please PM me or email me at iota1249@bellsouth.net or theotherside@everythingbacon.com

Get aftermarket if you really intend to use it. The OEM hitch is junk and is dangerous, IMO.

I will have a friend re-weld it for me. He is a certified top level welder...basically, dude can lay a roll of dimes everytime and you dont even need to grind it smooth. He's got crazy welding ability. I just like the look of stock, that's all.

I think he means that GM has had problems with the hitches bending and breaking due to poor welds. Basically, some hitches do not have seepage welds that melt the metal on both pieces enough to provide them support to tow large loads. If a problem may exist, getting them rewelded is not expensive and actually should make the bond between the pieces stronger than the metal itself.

I don't think I have read anywhere about metal fatigue causing the metal to snap, mostly failed joints that result in catacalysmic failure of the hitch due to sudden excessive loads and forces being applied when the weld breaks free.
