What kind of music do you listen to primarily?

You really don't want 2 sealed and 2 ported, either port them all or seal them all; however, since they are Type aaaaR's I'd run them ported. If you still can return the caps and buy an extra battery or two instead it will help a lot more. I take it you like bass??

I'm planning on doing the same exact thing. 4 12's with two amps. my system will be 4 treo's.. (tsi) and 2 phoenix gold xenon 400.1 amps. can somebody tell me whether i should have sealed enclosures or ported? thanks.

Agreed. Port them and get some Yellow Tops.

I would say downfiring as long as you dynamat your floorboard. Mine sounds like it's being hit with a sledge hammer when the subs play. I have never heard a rear firing box in an x-cab truck though. If you try that let me know how it works out.

what about port placement? will that effect the sound at all?

Ported boxes bon't behave very well if the specs don't agree. The sub manufacturer should have reccomendations and you can use box design software programs to amazing extents.
