Hey,

I'm going to put a REAL sound system in my truck soon. I've been thinking of going JBL grand touring; the 6 1/2's, the 4x6's, and two 12's under the rear seat.

I dont know much about audio components so i just kinda listen to what my dealer says is good quality. I know he just sells what needs to be sold, but i doubt he would sell crap.

So, does anyone know how good this would sound? is there any other system that would sound better for around the same price? dub question to ask because i dont have a price for the jbl system.

well, any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Can't go wrong with JBL! products. I'm not a big fan of 4x6's, but its whatever floats your boat. Are you also getting a custom enclosure built for your subs?

Skip the rears and spend the money on the rest of the system and install. It will sound better that way. Don't forget to spend money on sound deadening.

At what point would you guys say it is worth doing sound deadening? It is a lot of work and money to just do it for every system.

For me it is worth it when I drive the vehicle everyday.

i plan on getting that sound deadening material you put under the carpet/mat. I'm ordering a black mat soon so i will install it when i get my floor mat.

Yeah im having my guy (like i own him haha) build a box for my subs under the rear seat.
i would love to get a fiberglass box, but i've heard thats big money.

When i say real system what im talking about is all of the components. A lot of people will just get a couple hard hittin sub's and call it a system. But i like to have a good crisp sound with my bass too. But if higher end door speakers dont give you that then i dont want to waste my money.

So one says switch out the 4x6's and one says dont even change them...should i leave my stock 4x6's in and just have him fab up some 6x9's with the 12's?

I just want somethin that hits real good and clean. Like what you would expect from two twelves.

Thanks for the responses, hopefully i will get some more.

REAL system =
sound deadening --- especially in doors
6.5" or larger round components
subwoofer/s
headunit
and appropriate amps for front stage and subs, rear fill is completely unecessary.

HA HA HA. I'm not trying to sell him mine. Which reminds me, I need to get new pics up, just got it redone. Anyway, I would suggest sound deadening throughout the entire vehicle. Less rattle, more sound inside, less road noise. Lose the rear speakers, take them out, just disconnect them. It doesn't matter. If you get a good set of components you won't need them...even with people sitting in the back, besides most people don't really hear the rear speakers anyway. Just make sure to not skimp on the install. Some people try to cut corners and they pay for it later. If you want to upgrade later, keep that in mind now. What's the point of wiring everything up if you decide to add something in a year that needs different wiring or overall different setup. Don't rush into it and remember, most importantly. Have fun with it. Make it yours.
