Alright, I'm running an old school Hifonics Warrior 100x2 amp. The sub is a 15" SI Mag. The vehicle is an '01 Tahoe. I listen to every type of music under the sun from hip-hop, to heavy metal, to southern rock, to reggae, to country. Looking to stay in the $150 range. $200 is the absolute ceiling. The doors are deadened, but I need to do some more work there, but it'll be done when I'm installing the comps.

Right now, I'm running Rockford Fosgate T162C coaxials. Overall, I really like them. They're lacking a bit in midbass and the highs are a bit harsh for my liking, but for the $75 I paid for them, they've been darn good. It's just that now that I have my dream sub, I think I need to upgrade the front stage a bit.

Over on CA.com, CDTs are all the rage. But it's a split. 75% of people are raving about them, the other 25% say they're garbage, there's no real middle ground. I'm thinking that at least half of the posters on either side have probably never even heard them. So, what I'm looking for are personal experiences. I don't care what your friend says is awesome or what you've heard is awesome - I wanna know what you've heard yourself and really liked and why. Thanks guys!

I think the CDTs are crap personally. Id pay $75 for them, no more.

At the top end of your price range, id recommend these:

At the bottom end, Id go with these:

You dont hear about the pioneer rev's much, but theyre actually pretty damn good. Much better than the cdt 61 series

I have the Pioneer Revs in my truck. I am VERY happy with them.

Your guesstimation of 50% having not heard them on CA is off by nearly 50%. Better stated would be only 5% have heard them. Never, ever take a review from there seriously. Chit don't take that board seriously at all. Don't get me wrong there are exemptions, but they will know that I am not talking about them.

The real question is what have you heard that you have liked? By definition the 162's are going to lack midbass (also a deadening/ib door install leakage problem) and also have harsh highs (find me a low cost alum. tweet that doesn't). You could be happy with a variety of things. I'd really go and try to listen to some setups that you like and buy those.

The best way is to go to a few stores, mainly high end ones and listen to what they have. You can listen and then buy somewhere else to save a little dough.

Check out the new Premier PRS series components. They look pretty solid. That's probably what I'm going with soon. You can find them for just over $200 online.

CDT's are crap in my opinion as well. If you could find a nice set of Morel Dotech's then that would be my choice from personal experience. The Rockford Fosgate Power series of components are also in one of my cars and I have yet to complain about them.
Haven't had the opportunity to mess with the Pioneer PRS line yet, but it seems promising.
