I own a 1988 Chevy K1500 truck that came with a 5.0L engine. I have recently had the exterior re-worked and am now considering an engine upgrade. The existing engine has a few minor problems anyway.
I have spent a few weeks looking through a bunch of posts on this site and found a lot of info on the subject. What I am hoping to find out is what set-ups have users on this site had success with.
I wish to put a 383 engine in my truck but am struggling with the intake selection - I think the TBI setup would be best (economically and likelyhood of success).
So what I plan on doing is going with a 383 block, TBI intake (likely an increased CFM configuration), and an upgradded fuel pump to handle the increased fuel demand. I will also need a ECM upgrade.
So what I am hoping to hear opinions on is - suggestions with TBI intake selection, heads (vortec or non vortec), fuel injector size (I know about the sizing calculations but any brand or model numbers would be appreciated) , ECM selection. Thanks for reading and I look forward to suggestions.
