I am installing a sony headunit in my '05 Silverado and need some help with the wiring. The connector that Circuit City gave me has pins where my factory plug has none . And where my factory plug has pins the aftermarket connector has none. There are only 10 wires on the factory plug and was wondering if I can make this adapt. Any help greatly appreciated.

does it fit into the harness correctly? If not, its the wrong harness and theres no way to make it fit. If it does fit correctly, then:

The harnesses you can buy are not specific to your individual car, they work on any car that has the same plug. With that, some cars are going to have illumination wires that others dont and so on. Unless you bought the GMRC-01 for whatever outrageous price circuit city charges, the only wire you will have to run separate is the red accessory wire, which can be plugged into the fuse panel on the drivers side. There's a few little metal prongs sticking out on the bottom left of the fuse panel, ONE of those is accessory

It fits in the harness. Now, I just read that 2003-2006 Silverado reguire a different harness 'cause the chime is integrated with the head unit. This cable costs $100 , is there a way around this or do I have to buy this cable. The connector circuit city gave me was just a connector and nothing else.

what is on the packaging of the harness they gave you? Is it a metra 70-2003? If so, all you have to do is run the accessory wire like i said. You will lose the chime but thats it.

If youd really like to have the chime and dont want to run the accessory wire, i have the part you need and I'll sell it to you for $50 shipped
