Hey guys,

I just finished putting on the KC Back up light kit i got from cabella's for about $30. It is a good kit and comes with a relay and all the wiring harnesses you could need. I did not use the relay i just tapped right into the trailer harness's back up light power wire (Light Green wire) And grounded the other leads to the bumper. They are bright as hell and i can finally see at night when i am backing up even with my tinted windows!

here are the pics...any questions feel free to ask! What do you think?

Why didn't you use the relay? They include it so you don't overload the stock wiring and cause a short or even a fire.

Looks good though!

The way they had the relay explained in the directoins was to use it if you wanted to be able to switch the lights on inside the truck with a switch rather than them only coming on when i put the truck in reverse...Do i need to be really worried about the stock wiring? Should i fuse the positive lead to the lights...If so what size fuse?

Lol Back up lights are liek god there amazing. Im buying some for my truck. For this reason. Last night at a freind a mines house. 1st time ever been to her house. So time for me to go. I jump in the truck start her up. start backin up. i see her mail box so im liek ill just drive towards that. Well i started to dip down. Yeah ended up the back end of my trucks sitting on the bumper in her ditch. foot high of water. Then under the water is a nice layer of mud and leaves.... I wish i had some backup lights....

Since you spliced the trailer harness you should be fine, it should be fused in the panel already.

Where did you pick them up?

Even worst case scenario if you want to just run an in-line fuse throught the power wire from your back-up lights then you should be fine.Good installed they look nice.

thats exactly what i need considering i have 2 layers of 5% tint on my back glass then black out tail light covers.

You should consider running them to a switch. That's how I have mine. Comes in handy when unloading the truck in the dark.

I like that idea of the backup lights but i thought it was illegal to have rear facing white lights.or is that just going down the road with them on?

Its perfectly legal or else tailights wouldnt have clear reverse lights in them or license plate lights, etc.

Just dont turn them on when driving...unless you got one of them idiots 2" off your bumper with the high beams on
