ok so i have been reading on this forum and learning what exhaust i could put on, but i still dunno what one i am gunna put on mine so i need some imput!! PLEASE!!! Ok so i bought this real nice 1998 chevy k1500 LOADED TO THE BALLS, with realitivly low km 174,000km original everything. now i know from having it on the hoist that its dualed from the engine and goes through 2 cats then to a dual in and single out muffler. What i wanna do it take the muffler cut it out put in one dual in dual out muffler then dual my exaust out both sides behind the rear tires, all with 2.5 pipe.... maybe 3 or 3.5 tips assuming the megaphone theory is true. what do you think of that set up? i am looking for a real deep sound, louder then stock but not rediculously loud ( quieter then 18' glasspacks without cats) also i do not want the snappyness of the glasspack, no crackle or raspy sound either. now i have a few in mind, magnaflow is something i am leaning too but i dunno cause its pretty much 50 50 with people liking them, also the flowmaster sound is nice ( my brother has it but its a little crackly) there is so many exhaust mufflers to choose from it drives me crazy!!!! now i would REALLY REALLY like to have the whole x pipe intergrated into the muffler much like the magnaflow tru-x perforated muffler, there is a few others but i can't think of them. so i guess what i REALLY REALLY want to know is:

1. Does the magaphone idea make it deeper and better? and how big should i go for a tip?
2. whats the best cheapest way of getting my really DEEP clean sound?
3. will the x muffler or pipe make it sounds cleaner? less crackle? no raspy sound?
4. what other mufflers have the x pipe intergrated into it?
5. how do mufflers work? shorter = more loud or vise versa
6. do gain the crackly sound with the louder the muffler?

Thanks guys for you opinion!!!

I can help some. The "megaphone" theory is correct. I like to think of it in musical intrument terms. Think of how a tuba works, same theory works in exhaust. I would go with 3.5" or 4" tips as long as possible.

The shorter the muffler the louder it is. This is especially true in straight through design mufflers.

As for the rest of your questions.....:dunno:
