Putting in Subs

Thinking about adding in subs. I am a complete noob when it comes to this, so please bear with me.
1.What company makes a decent sub, not looking for anything fancy, just something with a little bass, and not to $$$.
2. What all do I need to buy to make this work?

Pioneer, Rockford Fosgate, Dual, Alpine are some pretty decent brands. What is your price range? You may want to try an audio store to hear the subs and see what you like. Other wise, you'll need a box, amp, amp wiring kit (wal*mart is fine), and of course the subs. Hope this helps ya out!

For a midrange price, sound, and good space saving the Pioneer Premier shallow mounts are pretty good. I have em in my 84 and they sound and feel good to me. Audiophiles don't like Pioneer too much from what I've read, but it's a good midrange brand for price and quality. My 84's system is entirely Pioneer. Have fun spending money...:happy:

Good shallow mounts are an oxymoron well at least a compromise and dual is a joke. For the money I wouldn't even think of the new RF stuff either.

Give us a budget and what you want to accomplish and it wiill be a lot easier to help.

Well I was hoping around 300 Tops for my range.. I dont want to have to blow to much on them. I plan on making my own sub box, which should save me some dough. I think ill check out Pioneer, see what they got sportin on there website.

You are gonna need something in the 250-350 watt RMS range for that sub.

Oh yeah, you need an amp for the sub. A head unit doesn't have the power needed to run it properly.

Look here in the classifieds, people sell used systems all the time.
Can probably find similar at your local flea market.
I guess you just want a system for cheap and not really caring about what brand you have so those are your best bets.

try craigslist.com theres always people with them on there. shipping wouldnt be bad either as they dont weight a ton

The amps Sony offer are pretty pricey, can I run an amp from another brand? what brand offers a nice amp capable of running these subs at a reasonable price.. trying to keep it below 300 bucks.
