If i were to replace my 4.3L stock exhaust (just had some snowmobiling kids cut me off in which i smacked into an icy snowbank-and my exhaust took all the shock) with 3" single pipe. would i be losing power or is this the way to go? any response within the next day would be awesome cuz it's going into the muffler shop, by than.

I run a 3" pipe from the cat back to the end of the tailpipe.
I'm sure it's affected low end some, but my truck is so slow
it doesn't matter...:cheer:

I had a single 3" from the cat back w/ a FM40 dumped under the bed on my old '98 4.3 ZR2 w/ no probs., sounded good too.

What size exhaust is standard on the 4.3? im thinkin 2.25 maybe 2.5 but i cant get a straight answer and it's a little too wet outside to crawl around on the ground with a ruler, so any help would be super appreciated

Finally an answer! thats what i thought, but you guys have much more experience with modding these suckers. im a FSC newb, but not to vehicles in general.

my truck, a 99 Sierra 4.3L. Stock pipe is 2.25 I just put a FM 40 seires with 2.5 out with it turned down before the axle. I think 3" might be a little big. I wouldn't go above 2.5

im gonna have to ask you for a sound or video clip, cuz that is exactly what i was wanting to get. wanted to see how the 40's would sound on a V6.

I'll get one up by this weekend. I am very pleased with it. Sounds pretty deep, and i just replaced stock muffler with it and had it come to a turn down. $170 bucks for everything

i have a flowmaster 50 series muffler and my truck sounds like a v8 at idle till about 3000 rpm. any V6 though will sound like a V6 at higher rpm's there is no way to change that. lol. i have side exit pipes right b4 my back right tire. it sounds good. i will try to get a sound clip of it soon. the only reason i didnt get a 40 series muffler is because everyone i know of has a 40 series flowmaster muffler and i hate havin tha same chit as everyone else
