I have heard of people putting them on their trucks, but never heard a truck with them installed...anyone have sound clips?

no sound clips, but they are loud and kind of raspy, mine is very deep when im not revvin it alot, but at wot its kinda raspy. the only other thing i would run would be straights.

I had a glasspack at one time (no sound clip), and I honestly think the tone was better stock. Mine was a 22", and it was entirely too loud, and didn't have a good tone at all, especially at WOT. I got rid of it after a couple of months, and put the stock muffler back on.

Honestly I think they suck. Some people like them, but I really don't care for the sound. They can sound ok at best if you are not running through a cat first. We had a guy come into the shop a few weeks ago to get a set installed on his new Dodge SRT10. I can honestly say that was the worst decision he could have made. But he was happy with it, so whatever floats your boat I guess.

Yeah, coolmudrunner is right...don't get a glasspack man, get anything but a glasspack lol. I can't really think of a muffler that i like less than a glasspack, the only reason I got mine is because it was so cheap ($40 w/ installation).

Thanks for the info guys...I'd still like to hear them though. To develop my own opinion on them. So consider this a bump for some sound clips...

Glasspacks are not that bad, My thrush glasspack cost 30 dollars, and I already had clamps and piping..had it installed in a hour or so. It gives my ole 78 a nice deep tone when I start to take off rattles windows  , then when I floor she purs like a kitten..but keep in mind my 78 didn't have a factory cat, so thats why it might sound better.

The only thing that sounds worse than a glasspack is those tiny straight pipes that cowboys seem to like.

ill get you a sound clip. I have dual 12" glasspacks installed backwards with no "x" pipe. Sounds great but is very VERY loud.

What length are your glasspacks, texasboy? Mine were 22", and they gave me a headache on long trips (dumped under bed). Also, what does mounting them backwards do exactly?

Turning the glasspacks backwards just makes them louder and gives them less tone because the baffles dont catch any of the exhaust. Im runnin dual 18in. cherrybomb glasspacks that have the holes flat against the packing instead of raised like thrush and most no name glasspacks. They give me an awesome, loud as f--k sound that I wouldnt trade for anything.

how can you tell what way is the front and what way is backwards i have one 3 inch cherry bomb on my truck with no cat and i dont know how to tell what is the front or back

there are no raised baffles in your cherrybomb so its not a directional muffler. it can be put on either way. if you look at other glasspacks, they're designed to "grab" the exhaust as it flows by. turn it around backwards and its not much different than straight pipes.

Yes, the directional louvered core glasspaks, take the raspyness away, But also increase the dull roar, because of the increased resistance. If you put them on backwards, they do almost nothing, and are like straight pipes.

Once I hear them I will have my own opinion on them...so texasboy21Z71, once you get those clips post 'em up!

It sounds diffrent, brother tahoe HAD glasspacks and it was a continous groul and my dads truck(carb.) has a rumble so its not as annoying.

thanks, yea i do, i wish i could take em off to make it louder, but then i'd have to find one of those 02 simulators, actually i just had my exhaust connected backup to my tailpipes yesterday because i bagged it and had to cut it off to clear, but it still sounds basically the same

i have cherry bombs and after about 6 months they got blown out. instead of wasting money on glasspacks i would just run straight pipes.

I'm sorry, but I hate glasspacks with a passion. I can't take the loud and raspy popping noise that they make.
