Hey guys, I understand this kind of decision is highly personal taste... but let me get your opinion on a new hood for my NBS RCSB. Which one is your favorote design, or maybe you like stock the best?! If you know of another design post up with a link!

Whats the major differences between fiberglass and steel hoods? I'm also looking at new hoods but i dont know how good fiber glass hoods are. Is your truck mostly for street?

I say just the cowl hood.

I say stock looks the best, but if your itching for something just do the cowl only, the rest are to RICKY RACER. And get a steel hood. Friends don't let friends use fiberglass!

STEEL. unless u need to save weight for the track. Fiberglass breaks easier and the flexing can sometimes mess up the paint. I had my body guy tell me VERY CLEARLY not to get a glass hood.

And I'd go cowl. I had one on my old 99 silverado and I loved it's look

Mine is the fiberglass keystone and I have had no problems with it. It fits excellent also.

I like the last one.....if not that then my 2nd is the plain cowl...bottom line w/ your bad a$$ ride I'd go FiberGlass for the weight issue..its street. I went steel because to be honest, weight wasn't an issue....after adding 500 lbs in susp and tires. Also...in the event of a front end collision...a fiberglass hood is easier to fix where a steel hood is unfixable. As far as I know.

Marine SGT, after looking at your baddass SS in your sig... I think the cowl hood is the winner. Thanks everyone.

There is a group purchases thread Cowl hoods there are like 210 less if others buy.

I just got a Cowl from AIM,,YA YA there bad for drop parts but for hoods I am pretty pleased as is another member here who got a hood,,They shipped fast , sent a damaged hood, I refused it , they confirmed Fed Ex that I did refuse it and shipped another one that same day..

Hood I have now is perfect ... I paid 218.00 Plus 99 shipping to a business... I am pretty sure they will price match or at least come real close to another legit deal for the same product which for a cowl hood is exactly the same at AIM as it is in the Group purchases thread..And the benefit is no waiting on a group of people to have to get it ..

You won't regret getting a cowl hood! They add that agressive look to a truck.

Stock hood. The others are not so great. The only one I would even consider is the cowl, but I don't like the dip in the middle of it. I prefer a smooth cowl hood.

Yea I agree, I'm looking for a manufacturer that makes the cowl hood without the center valley.

Cowl hood if anything, but the twin scoop does look highly aggressive on a lifted truck.. never seen it on a slammed truck though may look good? steel vs fiberglass.. I can watch my steel hood flex at highway speeds.. no way i would go fiberglass on the NBS and i even have fiberglass on my camaro, it just doesnt catch the wind like the NBS silverado hood, its just right there in it.

i just bought a keystone hood. fit was ok. had to do some adjusting. mine was for the 06-07 body. this is not my first fiberglass hood. i prefer steel it paints nicer however i like the looks of the raqm air type hoods.

As a caution to anyone having a fiberglass hood painted make sure you take it to a painter that has experience painting fiberglass. My first glass hood for my dakota the guy did not do the prep work required and it chipped like crazy. the place i am having this new hood painted at the guy paints alot of corvettes. However once the clear was applied a bunch of pin holes came through. The hood was not done degassing. Its beeing repainted as i type. I called Keystone and they said that occasionaly this happens. All you have to do is put the hood under some UV lights or in a bake oven to heat it up prior to paint. this will allow all the gasses to release.

just some suggestions from my experience with fiberglass hoods

well, it's finally happening. 8 months later I ordered the cowl hood. It arrived today... some prep work before shooting it. Should be all wrapped up in about two weeks.

That hood is gonn look killer on your truck. Though ill have to say after everything I said in my reply to this thread awhile back. I kicked myself in the head. I went with the keystone ram-air hood lol. It goes along well as somebody else said with the already boxy aggressive styling of the NBS 03-06s Mine will be back from paint tomorrow or wednesday!
