Keyl Less Entry Question

On the OBS trucks with key less entry, is there a module or something that could be removed and installed in a truck that didn't come with that option? Just curious if this might be an easy way to add key less entry to a truck without it. Thanks if anyone knows what would be involved.

wondering the same thing. I went to the dealer to run my VIN and they said i should have keyless, so i went on ebay and bought a new FOB. Well it didnt work, so i went to town taking out my faulty remote starter, after which i found that i dont have the factory module in there anymore. I cant find one on the internet, or if its something i can put in real easy. Im in the same boat as you ... i just want to have regular factory keyless, nothing fancy.

well if your truck didn't come with it you might as well get a decent one with an alarm, you could roll up and down your windows, auto-start it with the a/c on.
Mmmmmm freshly chilled interior on 94 degree day.

You could, buy a stock unit from ebay or the dealership, but you can do so much more.

You can buy a generic keyless entry on the net for nearly the price of a GM key fob and it will probably work better. In other words, why would you want to go with a stock setup when there are better and easier solutions?

My reason was because I know where a truck is with the factory system that I could pull if it were as simple as plug and play.

What is the cheapest, quality alarm that has the features you mentioned gOdl355?? It would be cool to have some of those features but I have little need for the alarm itself.

Our shop does keyless entry systems for $100 and alarm/keyless entry for $230. Prices are installed. We had a lady come in a couple months ago wanting to get some speakers replaced and she was telling us how she paid almost $300 for a pair of remotes. She felt dumb after we told her she couldve came here, got remote start and keyless entry and still wouldve had $50 left over...

For me, it was just too easy to just put in a whole alarm. I had the alarm at the house as i try to keep some around since i do installs on the side, It got it cheap and hey a couple hours later and it is done. Pretty easy. I could even print you or email you the wiring for your truck and you could put one in your self that is a whole alarm for CHEAP. Really not that hard, I got power, starter wire, ignition and the horn right at the steering column, parking light flash at the switch, Door pins at the light, and locks in the drivers kick. Mounted the brain and you can not even see the wiring when you look under the dash.

The door harness was different for ones with the factory keyless and the ones without. Just put in an aftermarket system, it will be easier and better.
