Anyone have a stealth box for the NBS Silverado (crew cab)??

I have one in my Envoy and before that, had one in my Camaro SS.. I want to get one for the Silverado but haven't been able to find much literature on it..

I already have the amp, I'd just need the box and sub itself.. (and the wiring harness, cables, plus installation)

As far as I know, from the JL Audio site, it is installed underneath the center console.. the two places Ive gotten prices from have ranged from $750 to $800.. eek.

Anyone else have one? Know where I can get one? Experiences? Thanks :)

u could build a one off box your self to fit under the seats or behind the seats

7-800 bucks for a box is way to much, they better lube u up for that price, lol

yeah.. that price was really freakin high.. I didnt even consider it at that...wasnt that much the previous two times Ive had them installed..

The reason Ive had stealth boxes over the years is because they take up minimal space, and dont interfere with cargo room.. So.. bleh. :( Thanks man. :)

I think the stealth box I have in my Envoy will actually fit underneath the back seats of my truck... (I have the crew cab, NNBS) and if thats the case, I'll just stick the amp and box under there and be done with it... if it fits, i'll be verrry happy! :D

install on the center console boxes are no fun... i charge a minimum $100 when i do silverados/avalanches etc. if you can get them to break down the price of the box/install you may see that they are charging a good bit more for install, not that that is a bad thing as good installation costs good money.

personally, i would go center console IF it was my rtuck.

The install for the stealthbox looks time consuming more than anything. I bet it could be done in a few hours if done carefully and practically.

But for $700-800, you could get a custom box done that would fit in the same space. I am sure the JL stuff is of decent quality, but I am certain you could get a lot better for less and not have to use a 10W1.

anyone who was willing to build a completely fiberglass sub box that bolts in (not just laying under the console), allows everything to fit back as planned, and can guarantee good sound before they build it, imo would be charging more than that.

i dont have access to msrp on the stealthbox but ill take a guess and say $600 as that is what most of their boxes sell for around. Subtract a 10w1 from that price ($109-119). sooo to build a completely fiberglass box for +/- $500. wont be in business very long.

I had almost $200 in glass and wood in my last fiberglass box. Plus a lot of labor.

I know you're an over-kill king, but $200 in JUST glass & wood?

if i may answer for ///M5...

masking tape
gloves
brushes
acetone (to save on brushes)
mixing cups
fiberglass mat
fiberglass resin
mekp
misc wood
fleece possibly
bondo/duraglass possibly
carpet etc
etc
etc
etc

the last box i did for a customer using products from Select Products (much more expensive than locally sourcing materials but nice to get from one location) had over $150 in materials alone, not including wood and the sub and sub wiring. and this was a basic 10" sealed box in a corner of a saleen.

Fiberglass is not cheap, when someone says it is I can show you someone that has a non-rigid box. While it may be fine for output, it won't be for frequency response. I do agree I might be labelled the overkill king, but wtf we only live once might as well do it right.

Oh, btw it isn't just car audio I overkill on, pretty much my whole life ;)

$28/gal, $6/yd, & $22/sheet buys a whole lotta wood & f/g for $200! Even for the guy who uses hurricane clips on his dog house!

$6 worth of fiberglass mat around here gets you 1.5oz **** from the autoparts store. i use 12oz. stitched mat primarily that will build up much faster. i only pay $25 for a gallon which is good but hazmat fees plus shipping get you. i dont trust local resin as most is recycled. after 90 days, all the resin gets disposed of and replaced.

Wow, I didn't realize glassing was that dang expensive. That will make you rethink some things.

Glassing for a single enclosure is definitely expensive... Now, if you're planning on doing more than one box, it's not terrible, because some of your basic supplies are already there, such as your brushes (Harbour Freight bulk), nitrile gloves (HF bulk), roller (HD, Lowes, HF, etc), etc. are already purchased and there.

Another thing in discussion, would be how much glass you're planning on using. A gallon of resin and its correct amount of mat, will go a LONG way! Learning the right amount wastes a LOT of resin though... It just doesn't seem right, but the more resin you use, the more you're weakening the structure. Now, when you're getting up into the amounts of resin which ///M5 is talking, or into high-mass enclosures, you're talking about your f/g making it only half as far... Not because you add more resin, but because you're using at least twice the layers! I'm not sure on the structural integrity of the JL Stealthboxes, but I'm guessing it would be comparable to 5-7 layers of f/g, whereas Sean is talking about upwards of 14, on top of using at least 1.5" baffles to mount to, which eats up twice the MDF as well.

jl stealthboxes are atleast .25" thick, thicker in the corners.

Im going to try using the stealhbox from my Envoy and see if it'll fit under the rear back seats....

Plus the stealthbox for the Silverados, for the center consoles, only support 150w whereas the one I have(for the envoy) goes up to 300w.

true on the power handling.. much prefer the 10w3 over a w1. but i dont see that box fitting too well. looks alittle long to tuck under there. good luck. nothing better than saving money.
