I just installed my phenolic TB spacer and injector pod spacer. Install went without any problems and the truck gained a LOT of low end torque!

Needless to say i'm impressed! I also changed out the TPS and MAP sensors since they both had 220k miles on them along with a K&N drop in filter.

If anyone is thinking about performing these mods heres a two-thumbs up from me!

I want to put a tbs in how hard are they to install and is there anything I should be careful of when doing it. Thanks a lot,

Zach

I wouldn't waste my money if I was you....that is if you're wanting to put it on the truck in your avatar. The mpfi setup doesn't benefit from a tb spacer like a tbi system does because all that flows through them is air, not air and fuel. Spend your money somewhere else man, like a tune.

Not yet, i'll get some and post them up.

Nothing special, just your basic phenolic spacer and pod spacer. I didn't need to do anything other than take off the fuel line mount from the bellhousing, but then i got a rattle.. the fuel lines rubbing on the firewall. A little pry bar action took care of that, they're moved out about 1/2" from it now and no issues.

One thing that i did have to do was jerry rig the air cleaner for now. The TB spacer came with new longer bolts but not for the 2 bolt aircleaner assembly, so i threaded the center mount in it and put a chrome open element lid on the stock lower for now. I'm going to have to go junkyard hunting for a stock center mount lid here soon.

Mine came with two threaded rods to use the newer 2 bolt hold down. I don't remember the thread size, but it should be a simple pick up at the local hardware store, then just cut them to length.

yea, thats the part a lot of people get stock at... really the hardest part of this mod, is getting the bolt off the bellhousing that holds the fuel lines... but please dont reuse it after install.. :aniteef:

that bolt is way back there, i got it easiest by lifting the burban up, going under there, with a 2 ft extension, and getting the bastard off...

and yes, it will rattle or ping, from the injector pulse rate, if your fuel lines are touching, they should be separated about 1/2-1"

other thing to be careful of is fuel leaks, and always use new gaskets..

On my truck, I had the same problem with the fuel lines rattling on that metal seam that sticks out on the firewall. I got some foam tape and taped around the fuel lines, and around the firewall section. It works, but I need to check it every few months to make sure it doesn't rub through.

haha, and I thought I was the only one who had that problem. I installed it and took it for a ride and heard that vibration that sounded very much like injectors and thought, "Why are my injectors so loud?" I pulled over and saw the fuel lines and thought, "Aha."

i installed my spacer two days ago and i agree, lots of torque. i dont know if it saves any on fuel since i wont keep my foot off the throttle. all i did was unbolt my throttle body lift it up, my old gasket came out in one piece and i slid my space and gaskets in. no fuel lines were disconected or anything. just the 3 bolts and now it runs great. Ohhh and if anybody was wondering it dosent whistle, its more of a hissing. you can hear it sucking in air (hissing) at 3000 rpm and up. I kinda like the sound

I have the TransDapt spacer and fuel line extensions for my K1500. need to put those on. Got a nasty flat spot in the throttle just off idle in first gear, that I cant seem to find out.

Where's the best place to order the injector spacer? CFM-Tech? I'll get on of those and put it in with the spacer as well as rebuild the TB. Its been a rough 163K for my FSC.

I had the same flat spot after i put on both spacers, except mine was in 2nd gear right around 1700 rpm. Got an intake tube for a 305 TBI at the pick n pull for $5, and that flat spot was gone. Its the same as the tube that comes in this kit--http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=TRD%2D2452&N=700+4294908216+4294924760+4294908028+4294840140+ 4294925239+4294849633+115&autoview=sku

I already have the intake tube/silencer delete. I paid $7 for it at my local GM dealership. Installed it in 5 minutes. Im not worried about it. It only happens if I punch it in 1st gear. I dont beat on the truck too much.

I had that intake tube from the factory, and it's sitting in my attic now that i've got a different intake.

Update:
The truck went back to running just like it used to. It ran great for a few days, maybe a week then all of the sudden the performance progressively fell back and it runs no different than before.

perhaps you just got used to it? or maybe the new sensors made the difference, now that they're dirty again, its back to the same...

Where's the best place to order the injector spacer? xtreme-efi on ebay.
