Well i have some money comin my way from student loans so i figure its time to start my new system. First i want a screen. Whatever is the best out there. ill have to do some looking. I want to run 1 18" solo X and do it in a blow through. Then looking at a hifonics Colossuss amp. I dont know where to mount the amp though. Let me know your thoughts on this. I will be running 2 optimas and a high output alt. 1/0 gauge wire, all high quality wires..Still gotta decide on some component speakers also..Probably going to be around 3k for everything. Thanks for the help guys.

man it sure will be LOUD. but good luck gettin it under 3k unless you have some serious hook ups. the 18" will be over 1k alone.. and the colossuss aint pocket change either. then a 2 channel, a headunit (the "best out there" can be another 2k.).. it builds up. but deffinatly keep us updated. id love to see an 18" blow through

yeah it would be better but its not needed 1/0 wire if short should be good coming from one of the optimas, i would put 2/0 to the batteries though from your alternator;

you will need a 300amp + alternator too

the colossuss aint that much guys lol, ive got 2 goin in the tahoe

If it were me, and I were doing what you were doing I'd lean towards:
http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=152
and a pair of BTL 18's

what is EXmax, on kicker's site. I guess it's Xmech. Kind of feels like they are insulting your intelligence.

Hey, OP, have you looked into bed coves yet, 3k doesn't seem like nearly enough.

How much airspace do you think you can get out of your bed.

instead of the power hungry Solo X, how about 4 good 12's in a enclosure?

Nickleahy23

it will be plenty for 2 18's that all i know right now lol....I think for the time being im just going to get 1 18" BTL and then run it in my back seat. I need to wait until i get the work done in the bed for the airride before i can figure out what i have to do for a blow through back there. So just run that one 18 until spring then get workin on the bed and then get another 18 and build a blow through.

Sounds good, I was wondering about those tanks back there and whether or not you had to cut into your bed to get the truck as low as it is in your sig. With an 18" you might not be able to mount them vertically, which would force you to use alot bigger footprint. Or have the subs in the cab with just the box in the bed.

:dunno:

So I'm guessing ~ 18-20 mm xmax

rated, but the L series and X's have a t-cut top plate, which leaves more coil in the gap, so it makes the woofer Xmech rating seam smaller, than what it really is.

The tanks are under the bed...I will be able to go from the front of the bed back to about where the stock wheel wells are, but may bave to make it get narrower in the back to go between the tubs ill be puttin in..I know i wont be able to mount them vert, so i was thinking of doing like a V shape when the slanted either facing each other or both facing into the cab...its still on the drawing board as you can see lol..heck who knows i may just keep one 18 in my back seat like i had my 2 15"s before..well see

here is my blow thru for 4 15's i like how they are set up, if you want some ideas. i used a alpine IVA-W200 for the H/U and i love it. http://s158.photobucket.com/albums/t100/bgraff1/?action=view&current=009.jpg

id like to have mine like that, but an 18 wont fit vertically, so it will have to be sort of slanted...looks nice though good work

I would say that you should go with an Alpine screen, they have those pretty sweet touch screens http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5695_Alpine+IVA-D310.html that one seems to have all the bells and whistles. As for your sub situation, you know you want the solo x...dooo ittt

Nickleahy23
09-21-2007, 07:59 AM

Personally I think it would be cooler to keep it if you can make it work, removing it seems too easy.

cooler yes, but man that would be tough... whats the airspace requirement for ONE solox or BTL?

....calls kicker.....
for ONE solo x sealed - 4cuft. for ONE ported 8.5 cu ft tuned to 35hz. 100" port face area with an 18" long port.
ive seen people cut the seat in half on an NBS ex cab and mount a box to the cieling with 2 18 solox. it was in truckin mag i think.

Good luck and keep us posted man!

well just for now im going to have them in the back seat...next summer i want to do a blow through so i will have the back seat in there and just fold it down.....

Atomic

If you used half of the back space for the box and put like a suburban back seat on the other side that would be sweet
