Hi all, new to this forum... I also post on 67-72Chevytrucks.com. Looking for new forums and more activity on trucks... I'm from Fort Hood, Texas.

Here's my truck:
-1978 Chevrolet C10 Silverado
-305ci V8, TH350, 3.07 rear end, Silverado trim w/ AC and full dash package, AM Radio w/ FM Convertor, short-wheel base, 2wd.
-23,000 original, unrestored miles.

I am the second owner. The first owner was a kid who bought it new in 1978, only to die shortly after purchasing it. His family held onto it for 30 years out of sentimental reasons, driving it maybe once or twice a month to keep it alive. The first owner put headers and an exhaust on, as well as removed all the emissions equipment. I put on a Gaylord fiberglass lid and bedrug to protect the bed. Those are the only non-stock pieces... the paint is original 1978 (you can tell because of the "great" job GM did back then, ha). The truck was featured in Vintage Truck Magazine for the September/October issue.

I originally wanted a late model Silverado SS, but ended up with this guy. I love it to death, but am currently debating between the following:
1. keep it original and just restore bits and pieces as they need it
2. mod it in a way I can reverse to bone stock, ie - slammed on 20" torq thrust II rims, small sport mirrors, chrome rear bumper, minor chrome bolt-ons under the hood
3. sell it and buy a cheaper 73-78 truck as a project
Regardless of what I do, I love the truck and enjoy cruising it and showing it. Also, every so often it DOES do some work!

My other car is a 2005 C6 Corvette, my daily driver with over 62,000 miles on it. The truck gets babied more than the 'vette, go figure... recent pics:

Boy does that take me back!
When I was in high school, I worked in a pizza shop that leased a fleet of '78 Chevy step side pickups for delivery vehicles. They all had 305's in them.
Most of them had the daylights beat out of them, but a couple were preserved and lasted more than a couple of years.
I can still remember the time a sterno fired pizza box caught the passenger door on fire on one of 'em while the driver was inside getting ready for his next delivery. Smokin'!

Sweet find on that truck!

I like the "reversible" mod idea. Slam it, put on some nice wheels, a bolt-on rollpan and some window tint. That's what I would do. All things that can be undone fairly easily to take it back to original.

Nice find! I wouldn't change a whole lot on it. Maybe the wheels and the chrome rear bumper that is more rounded and not so boxxy.

Under the hood, I would get some coated headers and clean it up real good and some fresh paint on a couple of places and let it roll. As original as this truck is, it doesn't need a whole lot. The originality of this truck is the attention getter.

BTW...........welcome to FSC and nice 'Vette!
