Hey guys. When I first bought my truck, it had no radio, I thought no biggie, I can go without it. Well, I bought a pioneer head unit off my uncle and I need to know how to put it in and if it will even work. I am pretty sure I need to get (or atleast want to get) a new centerpeice from walmart that holds everything. Will this work with my H/U? Also, I heard that I need to get a harness adapter from walmart to plug into the stock harness and my H/U. I found this one from walmart that says its for 94 and up only. Will it work with mine? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4213069
Should this be all I need? Thanks in advance guys! I don't need the loudest system out there, but I do want something to listen to.

Wrong harness. Type in 70-1858 on ebay, thats the one you need.
Do you have the centerpiece in your truck? You will need a new one that houses the radio, but you will need the clips and the AC vents off the center piece in your truck.
Unfortunately, your truck isnt that normal of an install. You have to find the factory amp which is close to the firewall by your gas pedal. You'll have to take the wires out of that and plug that into your 70-1858 harness.

Is that the silver box thing? I looked for it and mine doesnt have it. Do you have a picture of the amp? Where can I find an amp? Thanks for the help!

I've never come across one that doesnt have it unless the owner took it out. Sorry, I dont have a picture but if you google "chevy truck factory amp" you might find a pic.

You don't have one because your truck didn't have a radio from the factory. That sounds like it will be a pain, but isn't impossible and will be worth it in the end. Look for some wires behind your dash. You may have one that has a power and ground wires in a harness. Then get the correct harness from walmart, it has a white plastic piece that can plug in up to four different plugs. Then try to mount the speakers. If there are holes cut, use 4x6 pioneers from walmart. They are good speakers with just a H/U and they are only 50 a pair. Then run the speaker wires into the harness for the deck. If you don't have the harnesses behind the dash, you have to wire up the accessory power, ground and constant power wires. If you go to walmart, you can buy the plastic center piece installation kit and the harness that says 88-00 General Motors. Only buy the harness if you actually have those wires behind the dash.

I am pretty sure I have speakers, 2 up front on the dash behind the windsheild, and two in the top corners by where the seat belt goes into....sorry for no terms you guys can relate to. But there is a big empty space that looks like a radio used to be there, all the other chevys have a radio right where my space is.

In you're truck if it had a factory radio it would have been just a face unit located on the right hand side beside your cluster. AN after market radio goes directly below your heater vents in the center of your dash. The stock truck will not have a hole there, maybe a tape deck. The mounting kit you can get will have the hole.
The wiring for the radio should be there regardless if the radio is there or not. You should be able to look up by your gas pedal and behind the ash tray and there should be a large silver box with an antenna plugged into it and several harnesses. If there is no box the plugs should still be there just tapped up out of the way.

I did this to my '90 when I owned it, but that was about 14 years ago. It wasn't very difficult from what I remember. There were no speakers in the truck, but it seems like all the wiring was there.

Right, I know where the stock radio was, and where mine will be going. I looked up above the gas pedal but saw nothing...I might have to start tearing pecies off to find it. I looked on my dads 96 and saw it, so I know what it looks like now. Thanks for the help so far guys!
